Review: Chains of Sciell

Post by naturalbri »

I found this series, as a whole, very complex. both books start out with a plethora of information, most of which is very important to understanding the world and what is happening. However, if you stick with the intricate details, they soon start to weave a beautifully dark and exciting story.

This book takes place fifty years later, with some of the characters from the first book. They have lost their memories, the world has changed and they struggle to access the Lifeblood they so desperately need. Throughout the story, we read as they are trying to gain their memories back and to work toward a new method of accessing their Lifeblood and conquering this new, evolved Darkness.

After a few chapters, I really found myself enjoying the intricately woven details, which painted a picture of the world. I felt involved and connected with the characters. I found myself trying to work through their problems with them and help sort out this new, evolved view of their Lifeblood and the Auras.

I like the characters in this book, and the series as a whole. They are well developed and, as an outcome of the intricate details, they are full of character and depth. I also like the differing personalities, which gives us a well rounded story.

The pace of the story was excellent. It was a great, fast past, but not so fast that you couldn’t take in all the details you needed. There was plenty to create the world, as well as give you the action you would hope for in a story where they are battling for their existence.

Overall, I really enjoyed The Merging World series, thus far, and especially Chains of Sciell. I look forward to seeing more from this author.
