"Under the Dome" by Stephen King

Post by jc_smith27 »

I read this book because I was very interested in the television series, in which season 2 is set to come out this Summer.

The book follows the lives of those in Chester's Mill that live their lives "under the dome." It is a story of betrayal, murder, and mystery. Much of the mystery surrounds the dome as the source of it does not come clear until the very end.

I will admit that it was a relatively lengthy book as it exceeded 1000 pages. However, I enjoy Stephen King's work and he kept my attention throughout the duration of the novel. We are introduced to characters with very different pasts and how they adapt to live life "domed in." The story centralizes around the idea of how people turn on each other when it comes to do-or-die scenarios and when the government steps in.

It really makes you think about how much you can trust your neighbors.

If you are a fan of manipulative characters and how selfish/selfless they can be, this book is a great read.
