Silver Metal Lover by Tanith Lee

This is a Sci-Fi romance in which the protagonist falls in love with a humanoid robot or AI. The protagonist faces challenges as her love for the AI develops, some of these obstacles are overcome with perseverance while others are not. The author has us question what it means to be human, and in the end she decisively answers this question. Whether or not you agree with her theory this is still a really good book with ups and downs, and it even had me crying at the end.
