Official Review: Hybrid the Dark Flame

“Hybrid the Dark Flame” by Stacey Brooks is a story about a young vampire named Marley. Marley is not what you would call a normal Vampire. She hates feeding on Humans, she can watch the sun setting and her best friend is a Werewolf. Things take a turn for the worst, when the evil Lord of the Fallen Angels wants her dead. But Marley is not just a Vampire anymore. Prophecies, Blood, Love, War, Secrets and new powers now try to shape Marley into what she was born to be and what she was born to do for the creatures that live secretly alongside Humans.

The prologue is a little confusing because it’s rushed and hard to figure out who is narrating. I wasn’t sure why it was of relevance to the rest of the story. It would also look better if numbers were written out.

Interesting and intriguing. The story line is well developed as well are the characters. The mood is very effective for setting the stage and keeping the plot moving. The theme is alluring and keeps the reader’s attention.

I like how the reader can see the world from whoever is narrating perspective and how it events and ideas affect them. I especially like Jarred’s passion about his race because his arrogance is what made him become a Fallen.

Marley is fascinating. She is a female vampire who hates killing. Her father and brother are ashamed of her because she hates drinking human blood but she doesn’t have a choice. She is part of a vampire council that makes sure vampires don’t show themselves to humans. They also take care of human criminal on death row and that is where they mostly get their blood. Her brother loves to hunt where as she prefers to fight. She is quick and effective. Her best friend is a werewolf and she can shape her body any way she wants.

I rate this book 3 out of 4 stars.

This sounds really interesting. Must pick it up and read it sometime. Recently started getting into the paranormal genre.
