The Queen's Thief Series by Megan Whalen Turner

Post by MaryLisboa »

I finished reading this series in the last week and seemed to be a god way to start here.
This series have six book, four already released. The last book was released in 2010, the first in 1996, so we can wait the next one soon (for my hearts sake).
The first book "The Thief" is from Eugenides (or Gen) point of view, he is a thief locked in a prison of Sounis with the reputation that he can steals anything. And this impressive reputation draws him to the king's magus attention, and the king himself. The king wants something to be stolen and they make a deal, if he can steal it he is free, if not... This is where the adventure starts, trough the lands of old gods, the thief travel with a party to steal something a long time lost, and he doesn't even know what he is going to steal until they arrive.
This is a book full of secrets and mysteries, Gen hides many things even from the reader and this is what make this book and the others so amazing. The next books have different points of view, some told in third person shifting trough characters so you can see what is going on everywhere. I can say that every book is better than the previous one.
The Queen's Thief Series is not a high fantasy, is not about magic and impossible thing happening everywhere. Is all about ordinary humans (if you can call kings and queens ordinary) doing what is necessary and every once in a while the gods give a hand, or just scares the hell out of you.
