This story follows Kelly and her mother Megan. Kelly is at school when the bombs start dropping, WWIII. With her dad and brother being gone, Kelly and her mother get their bags that they have already packed and head out before the looting starts. Her mother knew this would happen and spent time and money securing a place in a co op. however, when they get there they find it under "new management" and realize that this "safe place" is worse than what is happening outside the walls, but Charlies has made it clear that Megan is now his and they cannot leave the premises. What are they going to do? Where will they go even if they could get out? This book is well written, with some grammatical issues as in most things (very easily overlooked and in no way take away from the book). It is very emotional, and almost scary in the sense that it is very possible. I cant wait to read the next book of the series.
