This was a very interesting, if short book introduced to me by my sister-in-law. Starting out you are introduced to a cryptographer whose country is in the midst of a war. She is abducted from her family's farm by a group of enemy marines who wish for her to decode some ancient symbols so that they may use a highly destructive weapon from the ancient world. To compound the issue, because of her decryption skills she is considered the number one enemy, and many of those holding her captive would gladly see her dead. There is also a romantic interest introduced, in the form of another prisoner who was once quite high up in rank in the enemies army. The author could take a little more time to develop individual characters, as it was very black and white to who was good and who was bad. Mostly an enjoyable read though.
