Ezicash by Ian Thompson is a political satire novel about what life would be like if the Health and Safety Department took over the world.

It is 2060 and there are two types of people living: those inside the Dome (the Safers) and those outside the Dome (the Out Reachers). Abraham Pope has been living a happy, safe life inside the Dome. His only real concern is how to get his home safety rating of 9.9 to a perfect score of 10. That is, it was his only concern until he went to work and saw a stream of water leaking out the front door of the building. Put in charge of the daunting task of getting the leak fixed, Abraham calls Philip Lud, a plumber. Philip is not just any old plumber though, he is an Out Reacher.

Philip Lud and his partner, Snot, are simple men. They live a simple life and dream of nothing more than having a few extra bucks to spend in the local bar. When Philip gets the call from Abraham, he knows he has hit the jackpot. What he doesn't know, is just how complicated things are about to get.

I really enjoyed the satirical humor in this book. The author does a great job describing life inside the Dome. The beginning especially drew me in as it was introducing the world Abraham and Philip live in. There are also some really good twists in the story. I was never certain what was going to happen next and several things took me by surprise.

Sometimes I found it hard to follow the plot. I do not want to give away any spoilers, but I will say there were some things that confused me as the story progressed. Also, there were instances when I would get the characters mixed-up. This is mostly due to the fact that, at times, the characters are referred to by their first name, other times by their last name, and still other times by their nickname.

While the book is humorous, much of the humor is crude. There is also a lot of profanity. The F-bomb is dropped nearly every other page. I found this very distracting. By the middle of the book, I was cringing from the overuse of profanity.

My rating for Ezicash is 3 out of 4 stars. It is well-written with very few grammatical errors. Although it is not the perfect book for me, I think other people who like political satire and do not mind crude humor would enjoy this book.

Sounds like there are some real pluses and minuses here. I think I'll stay away because of the excessive profanity. Thanks for a good review!

Thank you! The profanity does detract from the overall quality of the book. Although there are some great things about the story, it won't be one I will read again.

Sounds like an interesting book and the characters seem lovable. However, I may be bothered by the excessive profanity. Great job on the review.

Thanks! Yes, it is a shame that there is so much profanity.

Great review and the book sounds interesting, but since there is a lot of political satires I am not sure it would be the book for me.

This seems like it could be an interesting idea for a story. I like that there are many twists and surprises in the story, but the crude humor might be a turn-off for me. Very good, informative review.

Nicely done on your review! It doesn't sound like my type of book, but I can see some of friends liking it. Thanks for the review and congratulations on the author for a positive review! :)

I haven't actually read many political satires, but I do enjoy satires in general.
