Banner of the Damned by Sherwood Smith

Post by prelude2moonlight »

I'm fascinated with the author's reoccurring themes of monarchal governments and aristocracies and the moral standards and responsibilities associated with her characters within their societies. Her worlds, and this world in particular is captivating. At times though I feel like a wading through too much philosophy/theory as the characters explore what is practical and debate what is ethical.
However, the relationship are gripping especially if you've been following this world through her other novels, Inda and Crown Duel.
Emras, though the narrator is not, to me the most compelling character, and the narrative while explained, is a little jarring to the flow that readers might be use to (cinematic 3rd view).
Overall, I'd recommend this to Smith fans who have already love this world and who have already read Inda.
