The Outrider Legion by Christopher Pepper is the first book in a series of science fiction novels, that is fairly well written. At first glance of the cover of the story, if it had been on a shelf I probably would have passed it by, however, the synopsis of the story intrigued me and so I decided I would give it a try. After the beginning of the story it was fast paced and kept the reader excited.

The Outrider Legion is a story about a group consisting of five outriders, a weaver, and an Umbra agent. At first just six of the group travel together later meeting up with the umbra agent on a quest to retrieve an object and unknowingly kill any traitorous outriders. The group comes off as an oddity but it also makes the characters seem more real. That, along with the author taking the time throughout the story to allow the reader to come to know each of the many characters made the story more interesting and more real. The Outriders go against all odds fighting things that would normally just be horrific nightmares and in the process make a long time friend and gain an ally.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It was slow starting out but it quickly picked up pace as the story progressed. The descriptions were well written and played on the readers imagination and created an engaging picture that made the reader want to keep reading until the finish. I was skeptical starting out given the amount of characters throughout the story but the author brought it all together with the small back ground descriptions given on the characters and the way the characters are betrayed with her dialogue.

There wasn't much I didn't like about this story. The only thing I would really want to mention in negative response to the story was the grammatical errors while they weren't the worst there was one error that did bother me. About half way through the story there was a sentence that had one word, I found it to be out of place and through me off a little bit.

I rate The Outrider Legion by Christopher Pepper a 3 out of 4 stars because I did genuinely enjoy the story and while I would probably only pick the book up and reread it out of boredom and I am looking forward to reading the other books in the series when they become available to see where the story takes the Outriders and their companions. I definitely recommend this to all my fellow fantasy lovers.

Wow nice review. Sounds like something I could really enjoy getting into. Especially if it's a series, I love expansions of a novel that drives deeper into a new world of someone else's imagination.

Sounds like an interesting book and your review makes it seem intriguing. I, personally, get confused with too many characters but as you said ' the author brought it all together' so I guess that wouldn't be any problem. Too bad, though, about the errors. Great job on the review.
