From a sampling, this seems like an interesting science fiction story following a group of astronauts/scientists that encounter a planet with mushroom-like life forms that may or may not be intelligent and are able to communicate with each other via different scents. When they try to examine the mushrooms, small creatures decide to take offense to these intruders and spray some kind of corrosive liquid that damages the ship. It might be worth a second look. Well done.

I'm thrilled by space stories and out-of-this-world books that portray life outside planet Earth. Nice concept.

This book reminds me of European Colonialism and the treatment of the Indigenous people by the explorers. I also think about the movie District Nine in ways in which the crew of this ship treats the intelligent life on this new planet. I am always a fan of science fiction genre because of the diversity of the characters and that women are usually the ones who have high ranking roles within society. I am eager to learn about what happens to Jonas and the fate of the people on Obsidian.

I don't read many space operas because the language often goes over my head. But this one I appreciate. I'd love to know what the Obsidianites are thinking and feeling.

I really like sci-fi stories and I think this one sounds interesting. I’m worried too much detail was given in the review and wonder how much more there is to the story. Of course, human greed propelled the story and the conflict is intriguing. It sounds like a good read.

Fantasy and sci-fi books are not my favourites to read but this sounds great and I can imagine can be made into a movie. Thanks for your review!

This science fiction book seems to contain themes of environmentalism and the moral obligation to treat other intelligent beings with respect.

You did a good job of noting the character development and analyzing the author's writing style.

Thanks for the review.

This science-fiction book is all about another planet outside the Earth. The book talks about to determine if there is life on the planet and if it is intelligent. Great review

It's difficult to find a good sci-fi read that's not mediocre. Sounds like the author did a good job of developing his world. Definitely might give this one a shot!

The storyline sounds thrilling with elements of suspense and the unknown. I really like how different perspectives are used to portray an unbiased view of the story. Would be a delightful read for fans of science fiction. Thank you for the detailed review.

This sounds like a very interesting story from the sample and your review. Normally I am not a fan of science fiction and fantasy but since this #BOTD isn't about realm leaps and the author offers the viewpoints of all characters, I'm placing this on my want-to-read shelf. Great opening on your review, it is quite an eye-opener.
