At first glance, and after reading the blurb I was on the fence and leaning towards saying no to this particular book, but after reading your review I have to admit that you have thoroughly piqued my interest in this book. So I'm going to read a few pages/chapters and see where things lead me. Thanks for the interesting review.

I thought that the plot line of this book would be very different from what I expected, but I was pleasantly surprised at the plot. I like that the author chose to shift perspectives in the novel and put Kat as the main narrator making this a female-centric story. I also like the different time periods from in the future in space to Elizabethan England. It sounds like it would not fit well together, but it makes sense.

I am not a fun of death scenes or torture. Due to that, I may not engage the book further. But there are those readers who love action, death scenes and suppressive content. This is a book for such readers. Good job to the author and the reviewer.

Alternating between first- and third-person perspective requires skill to execute flawlessly. The author might end up jumping around without a smooth flow to the storytelling, which gives the reader a bad experience. I hope that doesn't happen in this book, because this theme and plot seems interesting. It's unique for me. It's also interesting that Anstey is the villain, when I first thought that their story arc works for a protagonist.
