I love psychology, and this book promises a thrilling storyline. I can't imagine relying on a robot to tackle things like mental health and addiction; is our future really headed there? It is scary to imagine. Thanks for the informative review.

Today's book appears to be exploring a fresh area in the sci-fi genre. The combination of artificial intelligence and psychotherapy appears intriguing. Congratulations on being chosen as Book of the Day!

A science fiction novel that looks in detail at psycotherapy is a new one to me but the ideas sound absolutely fascinating.

Thank you for your review. I'm glad that you enjoyed the book. The sci-fi genre isn't one that I usually choose. I know that robots are coming into all areas of the world, but I'm not really interested in what areas they will infiltrate at this point in time. I'm sure many others will enjoy it though.

The issue of artificial intelligence and its integration into the society will always have relevance. I will read consider reading "Walden 3.0" by Arthur Sullivan & Mary Houghtaling.

this is interesting! this book is talking about the recent trending topic where people are worried that AI may gain consciousness and become a threat to humanity. Definitely a book worth reading and contemplating about.

The concept of AI psychotherapy is intriguing. The idea of having a robotic therapist deciding treatments for emotional and/or psychological issues could also be a little scary. All treatments would be decided using pure logic. Compassion would not be part of the equation. As I said....a little scary, especially since it is conceivable that it could become a reality. I found the review concise and informative.

As RT9 continues to follow established protocols, its optimization process begins to evolve to tackle problems on a grander scale. But as the robot starts to gain self-awareness, other associates of McGann and Massey begin to question the decision to allow RT9 to manifest these changes unrestricted. Will McGann and Massey discover a solution that enables them to protect their families and associates from negative attention while still achieving the artificial intelligence they've spent their lifetimes pursuing?
-Like everything, RT9 has it's pros and cons too. It's up to the creators to find a solution to the cons while keeping the pros intact. A good book always has a good solution and I'm going to find what it is. Great review. Thank you.

Science fiction makes me dizzy. AI and robotics are especially too complicated for my simple brain, and now the RT9 can even gain self-awareness! One day, robots will rule over us! I dread the day.

McGhann and Massey are childhood friends who grow up to develop robot for psychotherapy. AIs are for the future. Their lives will take an expected turn. Will it be for the good or bad? I appreciate your review.

I just saw an article in The New Yorker the other day on the possibility of A.I. being used to treat mental illness, so the concept of this novel doesn’t sound too far off. The question of what would happen if a robot—or any A.I.—became self-aware isn’t new, but this psychotherapy angle certainly has me intrigued. I’ll add this to my never-ending “to-read” list. Thank you for the helpful review.

Sounds like an exciting novel to read. I like that the book follows a continuous positive effect on the robot rather than most AI novels where the technology goes bad. And I also like the concept of robots helping mental health issues. Congrats on BOTD!
