This book seem to me like an interesting one. In the real sense of it, Abby must have a had a difficult time accepting and adjusting to a new life especially as she was forcefully taken away from what she had always known and related with.

Congratulations on BOTD

As I was reading the brief intro to the steamy, sci-fi romance book, I had this thought in my mind that the tropes are repeated and this is the twenty first century where women do not have to fall into their roles of servitude for entertainment purposes but it's nice to know that Abby knows her position and is adamant, straight forward and a strong protagonist. I am a sucker for badass, strong girls. These genres are my guilty pressure and I would love to get my hands on this book. Sci-fi and romance? Sign me up!

Abby may not be able to totally avoid the past—I guess. Congrats on BOTD!

Great review! I love how you said, "When Abby wakes up on Nicolai’s ship, she is in disbelief," the fact that she is in disbelief really sets the mood.

What I like about this book is that it touches on the topics of misogyny, Stockholm syndrome, romantic attraction, and human psychosocial complexity in a mature, respectful but entertaining and intriguing way. It circles touchy subjects with tact. It seems to be a cross between the Twilight saga and the 50 shades series but without the overtly explicit nature of the latter. This could easily be a Young adult only book but it is one that would also easily appeal to a more mature audience. As the reviewer noted, the author deviates from giving the protagonist, Abby, a one-dimensional persona but instead goes further to explore all the necessary range of emotions one would expect her to feel (or not!). For victims of abuse, this story may not be as ‘alluring’ as it may try to be though. Hopefully one can identify with the aspects of the characters that resonate with them/their experiences. :techie-studyinggray:

A great story with the hige fantasy of aliens coming to earth and playing a major part in the life of a woman is definitely a good read for a curious mind. Alongwith that details of an unusual relationship between a human and aliwn with explanation of all ups and downs with dangers of getting killed is an interesting plot. Congratulations on BOTD.

Interesting sci-fi story I must say. Women possess quite a lot of power to influence the men that consider them as significant and improve humanity. This book seems to contain a lot lessons in that regard.
Congrats on BOTD!

I think I would be frightened if captured by an alien and again angry for being denied a chance to make my own choices. I enjoyed the review and the book sound charming and compelling.

I didn't like that Addy's will or choice was not acknowledged by Nicolai but if I were in Addy's shoes, I would accept the situation. Your review is exciting. Thanks.

I have not read an alien romance novel nor have I ever heard about one. This is an interesting plot with all of the structural elements of a romance novel. I think that certain people would be interested in reading this book, but I unfortunately would not. I do like that the author explains that vampires and other mythical creatures are from a different world, but landed on Earth.
