This seems like an interesting book, even when a slow start. Unfortunately, I do not like reading books that are part of a series but written as a standalone, as I often find myself missing information. Just by reading the review, I have many questions I feel will not be answered.

The book seems like a good character-driven fantasy novel. The plague sounds intriguing, especially since it appears to have parallels with COVID-19 (or at least has similar effects on this world as COVID-19 had on ours). I will want to start with the first book rather than this one, though, so I’ll have to wait until I have time for all three books to read them. Thank you for the helpful review.

I am a new reader of this series and anticipating to be able to read as a standalone novel. Some of the other reviews highly recommend to start from the beginning of the series so I’m anxious to start! Thanks for the opportunity!

“On the Trail of the Unseen” by Lynne Armstrong-Jones is her 3rd book in the series and it takes place in Medieval Times when sorcerers are trying to find a cure for a plague that looks like our battles with COVID-19. Amazingly the northern part of the kingdom was not affected by the plague so people went north to learn if a cure could be found. This is a suspenseful story that I would like to read. Medieval fantasy readers will enjoy this book but the recommendation was made to read the first two books before one reads this book so they can get a better understanding of what has been going on in this kingdom. Very good review.

We've seen a lot of movies that talk about viruses and the struggle to maintain balance in the modern world. What is exceptional about this book is that these are not the modern times and the resort to solve this issue is not one we are used to. It's a beautiful theme I'd love to read.

Thank you for your wonderful review. I did enjoy reading the sample and also thought the author did a great job. I'm glad you enjoyed it and that the editing was good. Since I haven't read the first two books and I'm not a big fan of fantasy, I believe I will pass on this now.

I think I would like to read the first two books in the series before reading this third book in the series bcuz I like to read books in order and this one sounds exciting enough to go back and read them in order.

Fiction told from multiple viewpoints is great and I am interested in seeing how the author managed to execute it and the suspense in the book. Thank you for your review. Congrats on the BOTD.

I'd be interested to read this if it's not a sequel in a series. The plague may trigger some readers, as they already had bed experience during the lockdown. However, the hopeful characters may inspire us to seek for the impossible no matter what the cost. Congratulations on the BOTD.

Oh, man! I wished the first book in this series was the BOTD because I rather read the story in chronological order. I'm a fan of books that are reminiscent of Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings, so this story is up my alley. Congrats to the author for having the BOTD.

I found the official OBC review engaging, and it held my attention. The sample pages described the times of impending doom due to a plague that threatened the kingdom. I loved the author's narration style because there was an instant connection with the characters. Nico's protective nature towards his family, Xyron's sadness about Giever leaving during the uncertain times, and the painful feeling that the Superior Socerers experienced at the thought of leaving people when they needed their help; were all beautifully captured in the sample pages. Congrats on the BOTD!

Lynne Armstrong-Jones is an amazing fantasy writer who knows how to create unique plots with lots of twists and unexpected turns. Her characters are colorful and complex and very smart, gripping, and skillfully constructed novel of fantasy.
