The book seems intriguing. An action packed fantasy adventure novel bound to immerse the readers. The detailed descriptions and the visual elements sound like they really bring the story to life. It may not appeal to all readers due to the integration of various religions and philosophical elements. Anyways, thank you for an engaging review.

“The Stylite” by Shane Hallawa is a story for adults and young adults that takes place in the U.S. Teresa Amaeri lost her mom, and she undergoes a transformative journey with Father Simon. Her goal is to reach Alexantine, a city of refuge in the Midwest located where Missouri, Kentucky, Arkansas and Tennessee meet today. She traveled with her cousin Matthew and a mysterious Saracen. She hopes to defeat both the internal and external challenges she has been faced with during her transformation. Her transformation included martial arts, mysticism and concepts from Christianity, Islam and Zoroastrianism (a sect that was started by the Persians). Readers should not get too deep into the religion or the conversion process but focus on the characters and adventures. The book is enhanced with pictures and illustrations that really add to the story. This is a well-written book, rated 5 out of 5-stars that I will add to my to read list.

The Stylite is a sci-fi novel about Teresa who is a trained fighter trying to overcome the loss of her parents and depression. It has also a touch of spirituality which I have never seen in the sci-fi genre to be honest. And I love that there’s an explanation of the alternate world depicted by the author, thanks for sharing that in your review!

Teresa Amadei’s journey through personal loss and family conflict, coupled with the mystical elements from multiple religions, made for an incredibly rich narrative. I especially appreciated how the author intricately explained complex concepts and themes.
I believe in something greater than myself.
