I agree, the movie didn't bring it to justice. They could have done so much better.

I like all of Tanya Huff's fantasy books - really enjoying her new series "The Enchanted Emporium."
I really like the humour in her books and the different worlds she creates. Her stand alone fantasy book "The Fire's Stone" is one of my fav books everywhere.

I like all of P.C Cast books, along with Harry Potter. They are my favorite books of all time. Now if I can just own them all again.

Latest Review: "Mirage" by David J. Eden

The hobbit was OK. Actually my favorite fantasy epic is "the Belgariad" by David and Leigh Eddings. I must have read it 5 times! It takes you in a world of magic and adventure. The dialogues are pretty witty and often make me laugh. Of course, I also read "the Malloreon" which follows the Begariad.

Polgara the Sorceress by David & Leigh Eddings. A really great book that chronicles the life of a sorceress as she grows from an awkward child into a powerful woman. There's a whole series of books surrounding Polgara and her father Belgarath. They are all excellent!!! "Read them, you must," says Yoda. 8)

My all time favorite would have to be The Belgariad and The Mallorean series. Ten amazingly written books that had me reading non-stop for a couple weeks straight. My boyfriend was so frustrated because I paid him no attention during this time. He even had to cook dinner for himself lol.

Now that you have me thinking about it, I really need to read them again!

Abhorsen by Garth Nix really captured my imagination when I was younger. I spent hours at a time crouched over the books, absorbing the dark and beautiful world that Nix created. It probably wasn't best that I was a young teen reading about necromancy, but it definitely fueled my fascination with fantasy.

There's so many! Tanya Huff's Child of the Grove and Wizard of the Grove, Guy Gavriel Kay's The Finover Tapestry series, Sara Douglas' Axis Trilogy, Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett's Good Omens and Charles DeLint's Onion Girl.

The Way Of Kings by Brandon Sanderson is exceptional. Honorable mentions for the Wheel of Time series and Robin Hobbs Farseer trilogy. Fitz and the Fool is one of the most beautifully wrote friendships I've ever read.

Not 100% sure it's 'fantasy', but I really enojoyed "The Traveler" by John Tweleve Hawks. Amazing book from cover to cover.
