I didn't know Dystopian even existed before the Hunger Games movie came out. I think it's because I spent a whole decade watching the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon when my daughter was younger. I just wrote a whole blog about my experience with the Hunger Games. It's an incredible read.

One of my favorite series of books. I flew through them in one weekend. The 3rd was the least favorite for me too. But I did like the ending :)

Woo, I could go on all day about The Hunger Games. It's by far my favorite series, and I've read each book 3 times in the past year or so. It's definitely my top series. The first book really opened me up to the world of Panem and all of the districts. My mom kept telling me to read it, but it wasn't until rumors of the movie before I started reading them. The second book was probably the most exciting of the three. There was much more action in the actual games and more secrets. The last book had me in a mix of emotions. It was happy then sad then frustrating then horrifying then happy again. I didn't know what to feel. This was my favorite series, and now I think I will read them again before November when Catching Fire comes out in theaters.

I loved this series because there is meaning behind everything that goes on. Its not just a series that was written to make money at the cost of the writing.
I actually listened to the audiobooks and have never picked up the physical books. I think that this is the only series that I will be in favor of the audio version rather than the physical books.

I found this series to be a great read. Right from the beginning i was hooked. The only thing that bother me was president snow there were somethings about him that just didn't fit to me in the story or i felt that the writer could of come up with something better.

Loved the first one, but I REALLY loved the second one. The third one dragged on for a while, but over all I really enjoyed the series. I have enjoyed the movies so far (only seen the first one) but the books were definitely WAY better! Always are though.

I dont understand why Suzanne Collins rushed through the end of Mockingjay. I loved this series and every page I knew I was getting closer to the end. I was sad enough knowing that the book would be over soon, and then she goes and rushes through the end, all of sudden everything was over, everything was fine, Gale was gone, Katniss was happy with Peeta without question and the world was fine?!? I just think that these books were huge and she should have spent more time with the end. Many fans will be sorry to see their favorite characters go after such an intense ride, and now they barely get to say goodbye, there is no closure. =/

I enjoyed all three books, couldn't put them down. I even read her other books, "The Underland Series." My husband and his sister read "The Hunger Games" and felt the way most people here did in that they didn't like the ending. I believe my family read to escape reality and the last thing they want when they escape is to have reality hit them in the head and not have things work out the way they would want. They are invested in these main characters and it doesn't end very well for them. I am a bit of a realist and harsh conclusions don't phase me. With these books I felt like it helped me understand a little better when people are broken and gives me more empathy and helps me learn to not pass quick judgements. I don't like books that have gore and violence for gore and violence sake, it needs to have a purpose. When I read, I read for enjoyment, but also I find that if I haven't "learned" anything, I feel a little bit like I have watched a slightly enjoyable but useless TV show. I do look for things to learn and it is very rare that I feel like I haven't learned anything. I learned quite a bit from The Hunger Games and I think Suzanne Collins did a good job balancing the violence with the touching moments so that I wasn't emotionally dead after reading. Katniss and Peeta are two very different but very engaging characters and they balance eachother very well. The author paints a very plausible outcome of our world and it really makes you think and wonder, "what if...?"

Great discussion feed, I love the variety of readers, and I love that I am not alone for liking the last book!

I read all three in a four day span while working full time. That's how obsessed I was with them. I hung on every emotion and was a part of every scene. At the end, I was worn out and heart-wrenched... That's how amazing these books are!!

I read them all over a couple days. I think one of the complaints people have is the clear message against big government. I thought Collins was trying to jam a lot of action into the third book, but I don't think she did it poorly. It was fairly well plotted out, the events were "logical" (for the book!), and the characters were still appealing and endearing.

The Hunger Games was interesting, to say the least. I have read just the first book so far, but have plans to continue in the series! Suzanne Collins captures the hype of the cultures' obsession with reality tv in this gripping fiction! It makes the reader think, and look forward to the next book!

I read the whole series in like two sittings! I really like the pace of the story and the emotional content. The first and second books were great but the third was kind of annoying. I mean, I liked it and I couldn't stop reading it, but it just made me feel different things from the other two. Katniss seemed to be a crazy, power-crazy girl! It was still a great read anyway...hoping to read other S.C. books soon!!!
