I was talking to a classmate about Zombies and he told me about the Benny Imura series by Jonathan Maberry. Basically, it's about this teen, Benny, who becomes the apprentice to a Zombie Hunter. He said it was a really good book and that's why he could still remember it.

Thanks for posting this! I'm an apocalyptic fiction nut and zombies have always been my favorite genre of horror. I never really thought to try to find zombie books. How daft of me. :)

I second the Cell by Stephen King nomination (although they're not exactly zombies but it was a great journey in that book nonetheless) one of my favourites.

Carrie Ryan, author of The Forest of Hands and Teeth (previously mentioned), is a very good zombie book author. I would check her out whenever you can!

*the white rabbit chronicles - Gena showalter ( I have posted a few reviews of the book on here of it , I think you will find the book trilogy to be so unique and a really easy read.)

*generation dead - Daniel Waters ( its a fantasic book, about zombie teenagers trying to become apart of the living world. )

those are my two favorite zombie books.

Graverobber wrote:The Newsflesh series by Mira Grant is really good.
Her characters are amazing and the storyline is original.
Also she writes the parasitology series which is "zombiesque" or at least feels that way.
Definitely the Newsflesh series though.

Definitely!!

A lot of good suggestions though I should really check them out. I was just thinking of making a similar thread but found that someone beat me to it.

I'm currently reading Apocalypse Z after having a bit of a break from my zombie binge but I'm right back into the swing of things. Another one I liked was Shadows by Ilsa J. Bick only I was disappointed with the rest of the books in the series.
I want to stand as close to the edge as I can without going over.
Out on the edge you see all kinds of things you can't see from the center.

Anyone run across the book: Zombies vs Unicorns?? I found that little treasure years back and it still brings up lunch time debates between myself and my friends. Imagine several writers making a war inside a book to debate if zombies or unicorns are the best. It's an anthology of short stories, all of which I wish were actual books. Sometimes a short story is too short, am I right! I highly recommend it for the lovers of the strange and fun! Team Zombie for the win!!

My favorite of all time is The Forest of Hands and Teeth. This is one of the darkest and most grim post-apocalyptic books I have ever read and inspired a trend in the types of books I read today. The setting and backdrop created an authentically creepy atmosphere and the characters themselves were highly believable and very strong minded. Wouldn't mind reading a book like this again.

The Forest of Hands and Teeth series was a Fantastic read. Great Character development and plot twists. Very detailed. Id really like to read World War Z by Max Brooks.
