Your review was detailed and intriguing. A book with adventures and a satirical take on modern society, politics, and racial differences seems like a unique angle to me. I sampled a few pages and was captivated by Steve's story about his visit to South America and what he learned about Aurumia and Sklabosia from the elderly Indian translator. However, the errors I encountered discouraged me from reading further. Congrats on the BOTD, though!

Today's BOTD is a thought-provoking fantasy novel of satire filled with adventure, mystery, and humor. Readers interested in the genre, as well as books that reflect modern society will want to give this one a try. Thank you for your helpful review! :-)

I enjoyed your review and how you point out that the author uses a fictional world to project real world problems like inequality, racism and capitalism.

An interesting review on Aurumia, racism has been one other issues of our world. How then do some countries despise some others ? Hmmm racism is a cancar that destroys nations. An awesome review on the book of the day.

Thanks Sou Hi for a close to perfection analysis in your review. Aurumia by Robert Millon is a satire about capitalist nations manipulating markets and the economy of less sophisticated societies. The rich natural resources of AURUmia are being exploited in the guise of capital influx. As the Book of Life stated, "when they talk about peace they actually mean war." Parallel to how historical novels were penned, symbolisms are shields to escape the gallows guillotine.

"Surprisingly, the lost world is very similar to our world. There are conflicts everywhere, and things are even more ridiculous than you can imagine."
Well, this is not such surprising, when one remembers the Lilliputians fighting the Blefuscudians over the important question of, on which end one must crack an egg.
As a lover of the South-American continent, and a former traveler there, I would be interested in almost any novel about the continent. However, the reviewer implies that the book has a political tendency that I might not like.
Therefore, I believe this book won't be my first priority.
Thanks for the good review, anyway.

This sounds very interesting. Sometimes I struggle with how people try to put a fictional spin on nonfiction but your review makes it sound intriguing. I have download the book. I am not quite sure if I'll read it because I see many comments about errors and I struggle with flow when there are too many, depending on the kinds of errors but I will definitely sample a few pages before rejecting it completely.

An expedition of three men and two fictitious countries creates a very particular setting. The author employs creative resources to criticize modern capitalism. The puns also seem skillfully handled. I believe that racism and animal abuse are global problems rather than those of a particular country. It sounds intriguing.

This feels like a book of old, before we had discovered the whole world and all information was readily available on the internet!

I enjoyed your thoughtful review. The concept of a lost civilization is interesting, along with three men on a mission to find it. Although I don't usually care for the fantasy genre, the big dose of satire about American society has me intrigued.
