It is my understanding that this is a very new and fresh author. I hope that the critical review only gives the author the insight to improve her craft. I'm a bit confused when you say that the author clearly states her opinion about suicide or that the view in the book is "off-putting". Isn't that what book writing or story telling is all about? I personally have read many books that I didn't necessarily agree with the opinions of. As far as the story just getting started, when I read "To be continued......" at the end I took that as a pretty clear indication that there would be another book ????? I will agree that there are grammatical errors and some of the timelines are a tad confusing at first but the story is very intriguing with some really great characters. I have also read the second book which is even better and explains ALOT of questions you may have. Overall, I loved the book and loved the second "Miraculous" even more!!!!!

Poisonivy- The subject of suicide can be a very touchy one with some. If someone were reading the book who had a loved one that committed suicide, they might be very turned off by the view presented. As for the "to be continued" I would normally agree with you. However, there was a ? at the end which made me wonder. I'm glad to see that it was continued, however.

I have both books by Ellen Wefler. The first one I had done in a week. The same with the second one.
.I gave the Ascending Angel 4 stars. More than that I think ot should have more stars. I read it again just for fun waiting on the 2nd book to come out. And to everyone out there the next book is just as good as the first. Plus it answers alot of questions from the first one. I think the 3rd book to come out will be worth the wait. The second book is called Ascending Angel Miraculous. Look for it,find it,enjoy it.

Well now I get what all the buzz is about. My review will be different, however it will be the truth. I met the author Ellen Wefler about a year ago. My wife was shopping and I wondered over to Ellen's booth where she was selling and signing Ascending Angel. At that time I hadn't read a book in years. After talking to her I was intrigued, impressed by her personality and passion about the story so I bought her book. I started that Monday and finished by Wednesday night. When I was done I remember telling my wife, "wow this girls got some talent." I immediately searched to find out when the next would be out. I've followed her fan page since. The day her 2nd book "Miraculous" came out I bought a copy off Amazon. I finished that book in a little over a week. Miraculous is longer than the first. Ascending Angel overall I'd say 4 stars for sure. The story or plot is just beginning and left me wanting more. Yes there are some grammar errors but in my opinion exaggerated above. There definitely isn't enough to not follow the book or understand the timeline. I thought the book was easy reading and flowed very nicely. There was a part about the main character starting school so I knew time had passed. The relationship between the two main characters(not giving too much away) I found refreshing. My wife and I both agree the book had drama, a little bit of suspense and a small sense of humor. However there are religious references which I expected considering the title. When Ellen told me the main character was a human angel I wondered how that would play out. Having 4 daughters myself the main character Sara having her abilities yet wanting to be a little girl even doing the dress up thing reminded me of my me of my own daughters. I'm being told I need to wrap this up so Ellen Wefler after seeing your post on your fan page I'm sure you are reading these. Shrug your shoulders and keep going. My wife and I enjoyed Ascending Angel very much. We enjoyed Miraculous even more. Where you taking these characters was not expected, I like that. Didn't see the thing about Nathan coming at all or Seth for that matter. Your parents would be proud. I plan on attending your release event and will tell you in person how much I enjoyed it. Oh my wife said to tell you that I actually cried in both books. (I did not.) Remember you can't please everyone.

Both of Ms.Weflers books are amazing! This is a series and that should have been understood in Ascending Angel. I cannot wait to read Miraculous! !

Great review. I like the way you gave constructive criticism without being mean-spirited. I also don't like endings where I am left hanging. Even if there is a sequel, I might like not a book enough to read the sequel. If I like a book, I still want some resolution at the end.

I liked your review and this sounds like an interesting premise. It's a shame it ended up disappointing. Do you think you would read the sequel? (if there is one)

Gingerbo0ks- Honestly, I don't think I would read the sequel. It was an interesting premise, but it just wasn't good enough for me to read the next one. Thanks for stopping by!

Sounds like this book has so much potential but it was not executed properly enough. I am of the view that people who commit suicide bought themselves a ticket to hell so this does not off put me but you said that the timeline in the book is unclear- now that's scary.

Jaime-
I mention the suicide issue because I know some would be sensitive. I realize some are not. However, some things were confusing in this book. Thanks for stopping by.

You have made an important point that our view of a book often depends on whether it reinforces or rejects our belief systems. The information you provided let me know that this is not a book for me. Thanks for the heads up and the review.
