Garrett gets to go on his own adventure as his family moves to Shiloh Island. With a bad leg, few friends, and an island to explore, who knows what Garrett will find. I am glad that Garrett uses inspiration from all of his reading to overcome obstacles and to explore the island. Treasures, sea monsters, and Black Ghost all make the book sound exciting.

It is a touching, imaginative fantasy book about a little boy born with a bad leg, who has few friends and consoled in reading. Recommended for people who like adventure and fantasy. It is a book that conveys a lot of love for reading, as well as perseverance and determination that despite their disability does not impede their enthusiasm for life.

I love Children's Fantasy. It seems Garrett's unwavering spirit will be truly inspiring for teens. The title itself made me add this book to my 'want to read' shelf. Looking forward to read it. Congrats on BOTD!

As a fantasy adventure lover, I am certain that I will enjoy reading this book. I also like that Garett likes to read a lot and he does not let his physical nuances hinder whatever it is that he likes to do. I think this book will be a good read for preteens and teenagers.

This sounds ti be a good fantasy and adventures story. Hope that it turns out good for the protagonist giving that he has already had a harder life then most.

This sounds like a wonderful adventure book for younger audiences. I don't have any of the age to enjoy this most, but I'll recommend it to friends who do.

The idea of the main character having a disability and being able to overcome what life has thrown at him already has me intrigued. I agree with the reviewer. Preteens could learn a thing or two by his spirit and willingness to overcome obstacles. Thanks for the review!

Some of my favorite books have had kids/youth as the main protagonist. I love that Garrett doesn't let his disability hold him back. Perhaps if I had been able to sample the actual story rather than what was apparently a prologue it would have better captured my interest. As it is, I think I'll pass on this one. Thanks so much for the excellent review!

The fact that this book fosters a love of reading already has my attention. I agree on the point of over-sentimentality: I'm not a fan of that either. Sounds like a book I would have enjoyed when I was younger. A beautifully executed review.

Sounds like an emotional and moral young adult book. I like that it has good lessons to be taught and shows kids a character with a passion for reading.

This sounds like a fun adventure book! I love a crafty, dynamic villain. I also love that the hero of the story has a disability - this isn't traditional but certainly apt and inspiring for a lot of readers. Thanks for a detailed review!
