This YA fantasy sounds refreshing and well written. I just enjoyed how Ato's character grows in relation to the rest. The author has created a wonderful world to disappear to between the covers.

This sounds like an exciting tale - a young girl who can bring her paintings to life and a tiny dragon whose magical abilities can help Ato travel through her art! Add facing deadly creatures created by a faceless man, then I'm sure this would attract many. It's good to know that there is an extra layer of meaning here and that Ato's journey helps to develop as both a person and an artist. I loved His Dark Materials, so it's nice that this book reminded you of that series. There seems to be a variety of characters with varying roles here, but what's meaningful to know is that the characters learn and grow throughout the novel. It's great to hear that you've enjoyed this book enough to volunteer to do additional proofing. Must have been really good! Glad you loved this book and thanks for sharing!

The World of Ato by Patrick Borosky is a free flying leap into a world of magic and wonder! As an artist and dragon lover I felt an immediate affinity with Ato the main character and in a few short pages was enthralled with the adventure she and Reed embarked on! This book would be a beautiful gift for my niece. Looking forward to a series!

I love young adult fantasy so that's already a plus. The premise sounds unique and fresh in that Ato's created world, if care is not taken, will completely envelope and overshadow her real world. I also love that the book contains multi-layered ideologies. Thanks for sharing.

I like your review and how you have dung deep into this book. You not only described a little bit of the plot, but you also compared it to other books and society at large. I have not come across this level of detail in a review and I am glad that I finally have with this book. I love the cover art because it makes me think of books that I have read as well, but that element of art makes this book stand by itself.

The cover image is definitely very kid-friendly. It tells a bit about the book. The plot is interesting to me as an adult inspite of the genre and supposed-to-be target market. Congrats!

This fantasy novel feels a bit like a book someone below my age would enjoy reading. However, themes, like believing the impossible and taking a leap of faith, make this book appealing. I just might give this a try. Nice review.

Being an avid reader of fantasy novels this book sounds interesting. While I'm far from a young adult, this book still sounds appealing. I like how the main character is artistic and that she creates beautiful paintings and that they come to life transporting her to the world that she has created. Add in a dragon as her friend/companion and I'm totally on board with reading this book! I can't wait to start reading!

After only reading the free sample I was hesitant to continue, but hearing that Ato will travel into other worlds such as Myr has really got me interested. Along with the allegories to society I feel compelled to give this series a shot.

I normally do not read books in the fantasy genre, but your amazing review of today's BOTD has convinced me to step out of my comfort zone! I now have a copy - thank you! The multiple layers make this sound like a very well-written (and thought-out) book that have the potential to open the floor to some interesting discussions. Thanks, again! :-)

I was surprised to see your perfect rating for the book, for the sample I read did not impress me. There were some confusing transitions; I wonder if the rest of the story will change my mind.

Based on your review, Ato seems to be a character that fantasy fans will enjoy following. Add Iro, the dragon, and they will be in magical heaven.
