Nice review! To me, this seems like a very complicated book with all of the different species and the people vying for the spot of being the ruler. I am not into sci-fi/fantasy books, but for those that are, this will be an interesting read.

The worlds of Infants and Matures sound interesting and suspenseful, while Piper searches for the pendant's elements that will protect her from her brother, Eli. Thank you for your review.

In "Metaphase: Beauty in the Chaos" by Mitchel Street, Piper, a Guardian princess from the fourth dimension, must evade her mad brother while seeking a pendant to shield her powers. Shapeshifters, magic, and interdimensional stakes make this fantasy a mesmerizing ride. Congratulations on being BOTD!

Rating: 4 out of 4 stars

Metaphase: Beauty in the Chaos is the second installment in the imaginative Mitosis trilogy, and it delivers an engaging, richly developed fantasy experience that will leave readers yearning for the final book.

The novel presents a dual-realm universe: the third dimension of Infants and the fourth dimension of Matures—beings with the ability to shapeshift into majestic creatures like wolves, whales, cougars, and birds. Some Matures wield unique technologies or control portals between realms, all powered by a radiant energetic light. This magical system is as fascinating as it is immersive.

The story follows Piper, a young woman who spent her childhood unaware of her royal lineage in the fourth dimension. Now hunted by her tyrannical brother Eli, she must gather powerful elements to forge a pendant that will protect her from his reach. While the plot is full of action, suspense, and magical intrigue, it never loses sight of its emotional core, including themes of identity, destiny, and love.

Despite being the second book in a series, the author includes just enough context from the first installment to ensure readers aren't lost—while still making newcomers eager to explore book one. The writing is fluid and vivid, and the pacing strikes a satisfying balance between world-building and forward momentum.

Notably, the book avoids profanity, graphic violence, and explicit content, making it suitable for a wide audience. Though there were some minor spelling and grammar issues, they are infrequent and do not hinder the reading experience.

Verdict:
With its enchanting world, thoughtful storytelling, and compelling characters, Metaphase is a must-read for fantasy lovers. It’s a tale where magic flows freely, danger lurks around every portal, and the spark of hope burns brightly in the darkest of dimensions.

"Metaphase: Beauty in the Chaos" brilliantly brings to life the concept of metaphase—a topic I truly enjoyed studying in biology—by using it as a metaphor for transformation, alignment, and emerging purpose within a richly imaginative fantasy world. Congrats BOTD!

An interesting fantasy and science fiction novel. I love the idea of the different realms made up of Infants and Matures. This is the second book, and although it does give the reader a good amount of detail and background from the first, I just might have to read the first installment before getting into this as I don't want to miss out on anything. Congrats on BOTD

"Metaphase" by M. Street being second book in series called Mitosis. This is sci-fi, where the world divided into Infants and Matures, which is divided based on their capacities. What made intersting about the book is, it's composition of shape shifters, powerful creatures even included about technology usage.
With Warmest Regards,

From reading the excerpt, I was intrigued by the use of scientific terminology in a fantasy setting. I also saw how the author updated the reader with "The world as it is now" as a heading. As I went down the updates and the explanations and definitions of terms, I felt more and more that this was a glossary. I'm glad this was at the beginning of the story, but it was distracting in that it didn't feel like an update, just a glossary with encyclopedia entries. One thing I appreciated from this review is that swearing, or lack of, was noted because this is important for young adult readers.
