I enjoy a book with underdog type characters and Brimstone seems to fit that description. Watching the team working together to solve problems also sounds like an interesting aspect of the book.

Thanks for the review. It gives you a good idea of the nature of the book. I'm not sure if I'll read it, but it does sound interesting!

This book sounds like it could be the introduction to the "Hobbit" or "Fellowship of the Ring". I may read it some day.

I loved how you compared this book to Harry Potter and Game of Thrones. I loved both of them and I'm sure that I will enjoy this book as well.

Although the book seems to be filled with posibilities, the idea of children being put through the horrific situations you mentioned just puts me off. Sory, but a book should be either catered to children, or to adults. This kind of ambiguous audience just makes the older readers not connect to the characters... And the younger readers... God knows what this kind of read does to them.

Great review!

This fast-paced fantasy novel filled with "adventure, action and overcoming impossible odds" sounds a must-read for fans of the genre. I am glad you enjoyed it so much you couldn't put it down, but I don't think it's for me. Therefore, I will pass! Thank you for the detailed review!

Fantasy is not my first choice of book to read but once in a while I really enjoy a good fantasy story. I might check this out in the future. Thanks for your review.

A good review, but this sounds like just another typical fantasy book, of which there are currently quite a few.

The sample immediately put me in mind of Lord of the Rings. Sounds like an epic read--thanks for the recommendation.

Unfortunately, fantasy book is absolutely not my genre. I like more reality based scenarios and genres, opposite imaginary, so I am afraid I will have to skip this one. But I would like to congratulate author with BOTD and wish all well!

I am hoping that although the characters range from 10-15 years old that this book is not targeted to young readers! It doesn't even sound like something I would read because of the aforementioned disturbing scenes. On the other hand, I do find the magic component intriguing and the character must learn to overcome bullying from his peers. Thanks for the thorough review!

I think setting the age of characters can be really hard. If you want a book to be thought of as a young adult book, your characters have to be young, and if you want the series to last as long as something like the Harry Potter series, you need them to be really young at the start, so that the last books are still young adult books. That can create a huge disconnect between the trials you want them to face in the first book and their ages.
