Hmmmmmmmm so that's why you picked Dumbledore in the "Best Wizards" thread!!!

But yes these books are amazing. I probably need to a do a re-read of the series soon. Read each book when they came out, then watched each movie, then read Casual Vacancy, Cormoron Strike, and... yeah. Rowling is amazing :D

I used to finish these books within a few days back when I had a lot more time. I've read the first 4 at least 4 times through. I recently tried rereading the entire series again but can pretty much recite the first 4 from memory so I started with The Goblet of Fire and am going forward from there. I think Rowling did an amazing job allowing the story to grow with her audience. I definitely feel like the overall vibe of the story matured and got very serious and somewhat dark after the Triwizard Tournament. This could, of course, be a happy coincidence but I think it was brilliant nonetheless!

Don't even get me started on how much I love this series. It is the best. I loved the movies as well.

Harry Potter is my absolute favorite series of all time. I used to not re-read books before I came across Harry Potter, and now I can't stop re-reading them! It's crazy how every time I read them something new dawns on me, and it's just absolutely unbelievable how much J.K. was able to fit into just 7 books. Every detail is important, character has a backstory, and every decision made is linked to something that has happened in the past or will happen in the future in the books. It's incredible how this entire world just came out of one person's imagination.

I am an old guy (80) but I must admit that I like the Harry Potter series. I've also read the first two Cormoran Strike books, which I also like. J.K.R. is a splendid writer and fully deserves every bit of her success. Her imagination is immense, and shows little sign of drying up on her in the foreseeable Future. Long may she write.

I wasn't a child when the Harry Potter books came out, but I read them anyway. I have also re-read them a number of times. I do not think I could pick out one of the books as my favourite, as I enjoyed them all. One of the interesting things I find about the books is how the characters grown and develop throughout the books. Rowling does an excellent job of believably aging the characters while keeping them consistent enough that the reader still connects with them. They do not act out of character even as they mature. I can think of numerous other children's series where the characters never grow or mature, but seem to remain the same age forever. I think this is one of the unique things about the Harry Potter series. However, this also has the consequence of the books becoming 'darker' as the series progresses. Part of that is due to the storyline, but also is part of as the characters grow and mature, their understanding of the world changes. It makes sense that Harry, Ron and Hermione see more of the darkness that is Voldermort. This maturing was less of a 'problem' when the books were first released, as there was about a year between each book being published, and the audience matured along with the characters. But now that the series is complete and published, I wonder if all of the books are suitable reading for 11 year olds. That being said, I think it depends on the 11 year old :) For some it might be, for others not so much.

Harry Potter made me the person I am today and I always seek for comfort in those familiar pages I know so well. The Prisoner of Azkaban is by far my favorite and so is Sirius Black my favorite character. After all these years I can't get over his death and is the only one I can't forgive Rowling for. Is just so horribly unfair! Padfoot will always be in my heart just like all of them for the rest of my life and beyond. Always.

This is such a happy thread for me because Harry Potter is the reason why I love reading today. I started in middle/high school, and kind of grew up with Harry Potter. I remember re-reading the books whenever a new one came out. Thank you J.K. Rowling for introducing me to reading and how much fun it actually is!

Harry Potter to this day is my favorite series of all time! I'm still obsessed and it has been how long.... You cannot find a series as good as this. It just puts me in a good mood and makes me happy to think about it. I hate to admit this but I have wanted a tattoo for 10 years now but never knew exactly what I wanted or where. Well recently I think I decided I wanted the deathly hallows symbol (I'm a total nerd, I know!). It still makes me sad that this series is over!! Thank you J.K. Rowling!!

3rd and 4th books are the very best. 1st 2nd and 6th solid. The others are OK but had many flat moments. I think jk should have killed off one of hermione or Ron Weasley but I'm cynical like that.

Still, it was nice to see British films smash the box office for many years. Daniel Radcliffe was always a very solid actor too.

You've stolen the words right out of my mouth! :o

Sirius will forever be a favourite of mine, and the mark that Harry Potter has made on my life is phenomenal. I need fact, so much so that I'm trying to convince my partner to name one of our children after Sirius when the time comes!

I still love re reading the series! The philosophers stone was the first 'real' novel i picked up and the first series i added to my own private collection! I'm a sucker for the fantasy genre and found myself captivated from page one right through to the end. keen to see if these new rumors are true or not though!

I hated Harry Potter when I was younger and refused to read the books, the reason was just becouse of the hype, sometimes I just dont get why people go crazy over things so I refuse to do so. A Very silly reason I know, but I was Young so I blame that. But I have come around, becouse the movies where well made, but I still havent read the books, but I am thinking of doing so soon, sense alot of people do like them. All of then cant be wrong ;) .

I just finished reading the Sorcerer's Stone as I bought the illustrated version. Loved it, not sure if this is the correct place to post it but here is my review:

For the first time Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone is released in an illustrated version. For those who have never read Harry Potter, Harry is a boy that has never heard of quidditch, how to fly a broom, cast spells, and has no idea what muggles are. All he knows is his hard life of living with his cousin and his aunt and uncle who have given him a room under the stairs, who have never celebrated his birthday in the 11 years he has lived with them. This all comes to change though when letters start arriving to him by owls. A letter that will change his life forever.

I would recommend this to older kids as well as adults especially Harry Potter fanatics like myself.

This book was on my christmas wish list, however when I saw it in the store today, yes today, I had to buy it. I started reading it on the way home and finished it five minutes ago. While reading it I found myself thinking J.K. Rowling changed the writing but it seems my memory was just off and I was enjoying this book for the first time again.

I am a huge Harry Potter fan and the illustrations in this book are breath taking. Each picture brought different emotions out of me. I loved them so much.

As far as the story goes it’s the same one that takes me to a different world every time I read it. I think my husband thinks I’m crazy. It took me less then a day to read this book. I often looked up to see him shaking his head at me, I know only because he knew I was going to finish it in one day. I collect everything Harry Potter. I am in love with these books. I don’t know why, I can’t explain it. It may seem crazy but Harry, Hermione, and Ron are my friends. A quote I like from this book is “But from that moment on, Hermione Granger became their friend. There are some things you can’t share without ending up liking each other, and knocking out a twelve-foot mountain troll is one of them.” In my mind reading this book is another thing you can do and not help but feel they are your friends as well. Another one of my favorite quote from Dumbledore is “Happiness can be found, even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” This quote often reminds me and encourages me to remember to turn on the light and look for the good in others and to fight the enemy who wants to destroy us.

I rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars.
