Thanks for the review, I have an 11-year-old so the ages of the characters really bother me, but I am sure my son would love it.

This book sounds intriguing. It’s not quite my favorite genre but I am drawn to the story. The warning about the characters being rather young is duly noted. Thanks for the honest review.

The cover page looks persuasive. It reminds me about interesting fantasy books I read while growing up.

I chuckled at this sentence: "I typically hate when people describe something as "thing A meets thing B", but really the quickest way to describe End of the Last Great Kingdom is to call it Harry Potter meets Game of Thrones." This really does sound intriguing, although I could really, really, really do without any more sexual assault for "realism's sake." I'm more in the market for sorcerers and sorceresses kicking butt and taking names. However, your review makes the book sound interesting so I will probably check it out.

"End of the Last Great Kingdom (The Brimstone Chronicles Book 1)" by Victor Rose sounds epic and interesting too. I love adventurous stories.

I liked parts of the book, but some of the training sections weren’t as engaging as I might have hoped. I liked the story overall though.

I don't often find myself reading titles in the Fantasy genre, but I am intrigued by ancestral magic, the ability to commune with animals, the ability to hear the whispers of plants... But all that has to be tempered with the realities of existence somehow, so the involvement of slavery, racial inequality, violence, and discord makes sense. Interesting that it centers the story around teenage characters. Might have to check it out, thanks for the review!

Fire magic, electrical magic,
the activities of characters too dark. These are very weighty words that are giving me second thoughts about reading the book. Really appreciate the honesty in your review.

Is it true that Death and suffering lie around every corner, and not even the innocent are safe? If this is true, then I cannot read such a book because I am afraid to die.

This sounds interesting, but I have to agree the age of the characters with the the themes presented is a little off putting. Overall though, this seems like an interesting fantasy novel that I might want to read.

Sounds like an incredible story. However, the dark side of the story and the magical aspect stops me from reading the book. I'll pass the book. Sorry.

What a lovely commentary! I'm not a fan of fantasy fiction, but your review makes me think I'd rather like it (and I have yet to read a fantasy book that I don't find overstretched and too detailed).

This review goes along the lines that I myself identified in the sample I read.
I can understand the reviewer's not leaving the book off hands before it was finished because so did I with the small sample I read.
It is, indeed, throwing youngsters into fights and exploits they should be spared from, and Harry Potter and the Game of Thrones show here and there along the way.
But then, who cares, as long as the book keeps us hooked to it.

Fantasy! Finally my most preferred genre and the book referred as masterpiece as well!!! New author for me, but I am sure great reviews and so many readers just can't be wrong and lead me astray. Plot does seems promising and I anticipate really good time reading this book.
