I haven't read the 1st book yet, but this one seems very good. Im curious to see if the person Gary suspect's of the murder are really the right person. If so, what will then happen to Gary. Im glad the book don't cover too many multiverses, coz that is something I don't like. Thanks for a great review. Congrats on BOTD.
I loved the title and the plot. I am curious as to how Gary will bring the real murderer of Michelle to justice while he is still in prison. Thank you for the interesting review. I'll now add both books to my reading list.
I wonder who really killed Michelle and if Gary was successful in finding the culprit. I haven't read the first book yet, but I'll check it out before delving into this one. The Futility of Vengeance by Adam Guest sounds like an intriguing read.
"The Futility of Vengeance" by Adam Guest is next installment of book Worldlines. It's about Justice falsely covered by other people's sin. It's about Gary's journey to have justice for Michelle, despite the unexpected situation he facing. Will he overcome the hurdles is the core of the story.
Looks like this book deals with many worlds. Sort of like a multiverse of Garys. I wonder how this book reinvents this formula often seen in cartoons and movies.
A version of yourself from another world possesses you in the current and commits a murder! The thought is scary and repulsive. The plot is unique, and the author utilized lucid dreaming to the fullest in his story.
The review provides sufficient depth to the storyline and characters, intriguing readers to pick up this book. Although I find them interesting, I'll pass on this book as I'm not into the multiverse and lucid dreaming.
"The Futility of Vengeance" by Adam Guest is a sci-fi novel about the incarceration of Gary Jackson for the murder of Michelle, a former friend that became his girlfriend before she was murdered. This book is a sequel to Worldlines, a story about the multiverse and timelines. Gary had a lucid dream where he murdered his girlfriend, Michelle. He told his best friend Sinead about the dream and she did not believe it. Then it actually happened but Gary’s defense was he did not do it and the actual killer needed to pay for the crime. The book begins with Gary living with Sinead and her family. Gary was struck by a lory and was seriously injured with a broken leg, broken arm, cracked ribs and a head injury on the day he was going to ask Michelle out on a date. Sinead and her family went to Ireland to see if seeing familiar places would help her mom with her vascular dementia. While they were away Gary called Michelle and met her at a café to discuss closure for their friendship that almost became a romance. The second chapter of the sample began when Gary and Michelle were dating and she was killed at a bar where they were meeting for Sinead’s birthday party. The story then details the life of Gary after his conviction for Michelle’s murder that he vehemently denied committing. Gary believes another person from another timeline from the Many Worlds postulate that supports every outcome to every scenario entered his timeline and committed the crime. Gary’s defense attorney tried to convince the jury of his innocence by relating the timeline theory and that there were doppelganger Garys on each timeline and there were other Garys living normal lives without experiencing the death of Michelle or the prison sentence for her death. Quite a defense that was very difficult to explain to anyone that did not have a multiverse physics background. Gary still wants justice for Michelle’s death while in prison and now exposed to the evil prisoners after Cyrus, his roommate and friend of his father, was released. Cyrus had promised Gary’s father that he would protect Gary in prison. Gary was left on his own and would need to fight or die because of the heinous crime for which he was convicted. Gary returned to lucid dreaming and believes he has found the actual killer and he attempts a spiteful act on him. I look forward to reading the book to learn if justice is served or does the story continue in a third book. The story reminded me of the TV series “The Flash” where there are multiple Earths and people existed on each Earth. I enjoyed the sample and I highly recommend this book.
I have not read Worldliness but from the premise, I can see Gary was convicted for a crime he didn't commit. I'd love to see how he carries out vengeance for Michelle.
I am intrigued by this story. I didn't expect doppelgangers to be part of the mix. Gary might manage to get his revenge, but will he be acquitted from this crime in his own world? Will he get out of jail after all?
Thank you! For me personally, such annotations without unnecessary spoilers are important when reading. I think it increases interest in the book. Now I'm really curious how the characters got out of such a situation, and the timeline sounds very exciting. I will definitely read it.
