I have to agree with you there. I do hope that it wI'll be more enjoyable to watch, but overall I was not a fan of the plot. I felt it to be rather unrealistic as far as how the characters all turned out.

I own every Harry Potter book, including the new book, but I have never read them. I have seen every movie though. I plan to start the series next month though.

Harry Potter is, without no doubt, one of the golden gems of literature! All the seven books (and the movies) are complete genius. JK Rowling is a phenomenal writer who never lets you leave the books. The entire series is an unpredictable adventure into the lives of the students of Hogwarts. The characters are very well written and all of them are well incorporated into the story.

However, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is not one of the books that a Harry Potter fan would recommend. For me, it ruined the beautiful epilogue that JK Rowling gave after the Deathly Hallows. The characters don't feel like themselves and the story is extremely predictable. The only good thing about the book is Scorpius Malfoy who's a precious person.

As a whole, the book doesn't give out the same vibe as the other Harry Potter books, is less magical and is rather a mature, predictable play.

Harry Potter books are fantastic creation by JKR which has universal appeal. It teaches us a lot of things like morals, life lessons, and power of love and friendship.

I'm afraid I have to agree with you there. I was so excited to read Cursed Child and I was extremely disappointed. I will watch it once it becomes public though. I always find that plays are more enjoyable to watch than read (which makes sense). I also keep reminding myself that Rowling did not write the play.

I've been obsessed with this series for years! The last one, Deathly Hallows, is my favorite as well.

I agree too. It was particularly because Rowling has spoken in interviews about how she struggled to work within the paradox of time travel in the Prisoner of Azkaban, and then I felt like they stomped all over it in the Cursed Child. There was so much randomness and so many plot holes as well. I do think it'll be much better in play form than in book form -- or at least I tend to always dislike reading scripts.

I hadn't thought of that, but it makes a lot of sense. Time travel is such an unbelievably complicated concept and they really did make light of it in this play. Frankly I'm surprised they worked with it at all. I felt it to be really distracting.

I grew up reading these. I remember waiting so desperately for the new books to come out, and then of course, the movies as well. Hands down, my favorite was Order of the Phoenix. I don't think any book series will come close to what JK brought to the world. I do agree that the Cursed Child was a little.....different. I enjoyed it. But, it didn't have the same feeling and immersive atmosphere for me that the series had. Still, if any new books come out in the Harry Potter line, it's a guaranteed purchase for me. lol

The problem with the new book is that J.k Rowling was assisting in the writing. Therefore, the book does not have that charming skill of writing that she possesses herself. The fact that the new book is just a script is also off-putting. I have read so many bad reviews about the new book that I didn't even go bother buying it.

This is a great series that I frist read when I was younger. I stayed up an entire night reading the last book of the series. I then read the book again during the next week. These are books that you can read over and over and still enjoy the story.

Wow this defintely brings back memories of reading under the covers by flashlight becauseI was supposed to be sleep for school the next day. One of the first ever page turners for me. The series was soooo awesome that Prisioner of Azkaban only took 3 days at most.

I've seen all the movies multiple times and read the first book and on the second one. I know nearly all the info from the books that wasn't in the movies do to my slight obsession with reading fanfiction as well... I love the concept of her books and the progression of the stories. Where, yes, there is many potholes her writing and entrancing nature of the books make up for it. It's fantasy in one of it's finest forms and will forever be loved. I agree that this is an amazing series that I must finish.
