This sounds like a good read. Mythology in modern times is always interesting when done well, and this certainly sounds like it's done well.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

I read the sample of this book and now your review, and I must agree with you that the author did a great job on character development just within the first part of the book. This is not normally a genre I partake of, but it was very well written! I think your review says it all as how fast paced the author was on laying this all out and the quality of the writing. I bet he can do it all again in a sequel if need be. Thank you for your review on this. It’s a great supplement to the sample pages to give it a fair judgment.

Great and persuasive review but urban fantasy doesn't seem my cup of tea. Thanks though

That is an interesting and well-written book. I am into fictional books, so I think I might have a great time reading the book. Thanks for the review.

Roan is a bunch of fantasies..
To visualize the story for proper understanding while reading will be probably difficult.
I prefer to see it as a movie rather than reading it.

It is so rare to find real good urban fantasy, but according this review we stumble on true treasure with this book. Not only it seems written good and existing premise, it is based on actual mythology, folklore and religion entwined between themselves.

Good review.its very in depth in that it thoroughly prepared me as a reader what to anticipate .I love epic fantasy genre ,kinda intrigued to fully understand what urban fantasy is .Connor archer is relatable in that we are sometimes born into high expectations we are expected to fulfil .This being the author's first book, interested to find out its worth the 4star rating .

Your review makes me interested in getting this book for myself and reading it! I am an avid fan of Cassandra Clare and Holly Black, and to hear that Barr is along the lines of those two wonderful authors makes me eager to read and see what all the fuss is about!

The book sounds pretty exciting with its supernatural elements and the combination of Christian tradition, Celtic myth, and Native American folklore. it will be interesting to read about the residents of Tinker's Grove and find the answer to the question of whether Conor accepts his place as a warrior of Light, or the harbinger of Darkness. Congratulations on becoming BOTD!

Urban Fantasy that stands out is a rarity these days, I'm so glad to hear this one had the hook of magic and mysticism, with the added bonus of Celtic folklore! Crossing my fingers that there's some druidism in here. I'm definitely going to keep this one on my radar!

Celtic mythology in Mid-Western US, not your average theme. I know that "urban fiction" is a difficult field to do well, but from the sample, Mr. Barr, this story does well to compete against some of the other heavy hitters in this field. Prophesies are always let gaps, because fate is not always predestined.
