After reading your review and reading the sample, I am intrigued. The cover is so pretty. The first time, I saw the cover and read the title, I thought it was a children book but after reading further, it became clear that this is not so. With this cover and title, many readers will be confused, I guess.

A book that combines fantasy and reality seems to be interesting.

Thank you for the great review.

Thanks for the honest review. Although the message was clear, the writing was not. I was struggling to find some clarity while reading. The extremely lyrical prose is not for me.

You are right! Overdoing literary devices can distract the readers from the true essence of the book. And I really liked the way you summarized the book. It's a promising read. And you are right in not recommending this to the kids. They are exposed too much negativity already.

I would have been interested in this book because I also believe that a lot of wonderful talents are lost along the way due to complete neglect for the sake of book studies. I believe a balance should be struck to produce more well-rounded individuals who are multi-skilled. However, the sample was too rife with grammatical errors I wondered how the reviewer made sense of the book. For this reason, I will not be reading the book. Thanks for the review.

I feel bad when kids are bullied and more so when parents hurt their child. I agree that the educational system at times seem inefficient. Thanks for your review.

Sounds like an interesting read. I understand how schools are pressured to have all the children meet the standards of reading, writing, and arithmetic. However, the fine arts, including music, is critical to our children's growth. I think some schools suck the creativity right out of our kids. The arts should be incorporated into the other content areas.
I thought the basic story line with Oris coming from an abusive home was so sad. He had a struggle in school and at home. I haven't read it yet, but I hope he overcomes the multiple hurtles in his live.

A beautiful book cover for a very nice and interesting plot. The theme of bullying and other forms of abuse is very timely and relevant and I am excited to dig into this book to find out how the main character rise above all life's challenges and struggles a child does not have to suffer at a very early age.

When first looking at the cover, I expected to find a young adult novel or even a kid’s book, however, it was a nice surprise to find such a deep and interesting plot. I really like how the author plays with two parallel realities. Sounds like a good read.

Art Fairy by Floras Athena sounds like an interesting book with lessons to learn, especially for parents who force education down their children's throats without considering their innate talents. It is a book that seems to address a commonly-occurring mistake in parenting and I would love to read it. Thanks for a wonderful review. Congratulations BOTD.

This book seems a good criticism of the educational system and how other people completely crush growing talent. Still, an overuse of metaphors and the like might turn me away from this, because I don't very much like not knowing what's going on because the author wants to stuff another metaphor in.

Excellent review! I felt so bad when I read in your review how Ortis is bullied at school and abused at home! I agree with the author that children should be given a chance to develop their talents, but I disagree with her opinion on school. I do think there is too much pressure for good grades, but I think education is very important. Your review made this book sound very interesting!

I like the author's highlight of the educational system. Grades are mostly appreciated than efficiency and talent. Will surely check this book out to know the sacrifice that Oris made to enjoy the fairy world. Thanks for this review. Congrats on the BOTD.

Meaning no offense, but sounds kinda adolescent to me. Not only because main character is primary school kid, but it so ordinary "comes to Hollywood" story. Naivety crushed by harsh reality - definitely not my cup of tea. Sorry, but I will have to pass this one.
