I don't have much experience in this realm, BUT I recommend:

Red Hill by Jamie McGuire (has a strong romantic element)
Among Monsters by Jamie McGuire (short side-story to Red Hill, no romance - young girls POV)

Also, try Sherrilyn Kenyon - Chronicles of Nick

Excellent authors! Oh, and Red Hill actually gives you an explanation of how the zombies were created AND an ending (so you aren't left wondering what happens next when you finish the book).
A book is a device to ignite the imagination.

Warm Bodies.. It was way better than the movie(which I loved). It's not particularly scary or terrifying but does make some good points about what it means to be truly alive.
