When I saw the cover of the book, my first impression was: lightness, femininity (wings, light colors, title...). However, after reading the review, strength, courage, and struggle are added. And looking more closely - it is a woman with weapons and the white wings are the wings of a dragon.

Great review! I typically do not read sci-fi/fantasy books however, I have read some great ones, and this book seems to be one of those. I will look into reading it. This captivating novel takes place in the fictional realm of Yandar Kingdom of Highwings on the planet Phe'lak. Within this kingdom, a remarkably courageous queen emerges, leading her armies fearlessly in the face of treachery from former allies. The enthralling battle she wages fractures the unity of the Phe'lakir people for the first time in their history, leaving an enduring mark on the queen herself. Having suffered a debilitating injury, she becomes bedridden, unable to contribute to the city's restoration.

The destiny of Yandar Kingdom rests upon the shoulders of one of the queen's three children: two daughters and a son. The narrative raises pressing questions: Who among them will bear this responsibility? Can this person rise to the challenge? Is this person of age to assume such a significant role? Can this person fight? The answers to these inquiries unfold throughout the pages of this thrilling and adventurous book.

Among the memorable characters, two stood out as personal favorites: Hrya and Enmiat. Hrya, a young princess, defies expectations by shouldering responsibility at an early age and forsaking a life of luxury and indulgence. Instead, she displays great courage and wisdom as she leads the Phe'lakir troops, fighting valiantly like a seasoned warrior. Her leadership, troubleshooting skills, and determination greatly intrigued and inspired me. Meanwhile, Enmiat, Silva's nanny and the queen's maid, epitomizes unwavering loyalty by steadfastly remaining by the queen's side throughout her arduous journey of recovery.

One statement particularly resonated with me: "Phe'laki women are warriors." This concise declaration encapsulates the belief that our gender should not define our strengths or weaknesses. It serves as a powerful reminder that we are capable of surpassing our own expectations. While the book had numerous moments of levity, the most amusing one involved George reciting a poem to gain access to the royal doors. The blend of humor, urgency, and tension in that scene evoked hearty laughter and left a lasting impression.

Amidst the lighthearted moments, one passage evoked a deep emotional response within me. Hrya's tearful longing for home struck a chord, emphasizing the overwhelming sense of distance she felt despite being physically present in her mother's bed. It was a poignant portrayal of her longing for loved ones left behind.

In conclusion, this book caters to females of all ages, with a particular focus on younger readers seeking to explore their world, embrace greatness, and transcend gender limitations. It reinforces the notion that each of us possesses untapped potential, waiting to be unleashed in order to aid the helpless, inspire the hopeless, and provide solutions to the world's challenges. The book reminds us that the power to overcome obstacles lies within us and can only be hindered by our own inhibitions.
