The bitterly cold weather alone would have turned me off to such an expedition. Throw in being trapped in the tundra with a bunch of drinkers, and I'd be like, "Nah, I'm cool with staying home." Reading about the expedition itself, that sounds interesting. It's too bad about the content though I'd have to side with you on that. I'll probably pass on this novel. As another person had stated above, I thought this story was going to wind up being a fantasy novel of some type as well.

This Sci-fi sounds intriguing. The plot is twisted and the characters are full of suspense. Your review is insightful.

I love sci-fi novels! It is really interesting to read the stories that authors thought up using their experiences mixed with imagination. This story seems more on imagination and the authors ability to create an awesome adventure. However, the drinking and sexuality part does throw me off. For now I will keep this on the back burner.

Zona: The Forbidden Land is an Adventurous Book Unfolding through different mysterious path. Rumors of exotic and deadly animals, and elements of surprise which confronted Dr. Grant Taylor, when summoned to Saint Petersburg, Russia, to settle the estate of his explorer uncle, Randall Taylor, who has gone missing in Zona, a region of Siberia that doesn't official exist.

Drawn into intrigue by his green-eyed lover, Grant finds himself on a recovery expedition to search for unknown dangers with people he cannot trust.

It sounds like this story has a little bit of everything for everyone. Plus I like that information about Russian culture was included.

Having just read a book that started quickly, I appreciate this book already for having a laid-down ground work. But, how did the colonel escape in the first place? Is he the villain?

This sounds like an intriguing adventure novel that will challenge the characters both physically and mentally.
There is no frigate like a book
To take us lands away,
Nor any coursers like a page
Of prancing poetry.
This traverse may the poorest take
Without oppress of toll;
How frugal is the chariot
That bears a human soul!

Will Grant find his uncle on this expedition? Zona seemed to be a mysterious land and I am looking forward to digging into this novel and find hidden treasures and more mysterious things as grant searches for his relative.

Thanks for the helpful review! I think I'll pass due to the sexual content, but the book sounds like an interesting and realistic read.
