Urban fantasy never was one of my favorite genres, but for this book I think it is worth to make exception. And the reason is my one true love - History, in any shape and form, including legends, myth and folklore. Since this book heavely leans on them I will read it.

I think this work is not for me to grab because I do not enjoy urban fantasy narratives. The fast pace introduction of the characters would also make the plot difficult to follow.

Based on the review I think that I will give the book a chance. I love to read fantasy because it is my favorite genre. I also like that the author uses different myths, legends, and folklore. It's exciting to read about Celtic myths, and Native American folklore/culture.

"If the author made a mistake with this novel, it can only be that he set an extremely high bar for his future writing." - I am truly excited to read this novel. Thank you for a wonderful review and also because this will be my first shot into "fantasy" I would like it to be with a good read. :)

The intrigue begins as Conor Archer learns the mystery of his Celtic ancestry. The author was apt in engaging the reader in the adventure.

Ultimately, I'm sure this book has some unique story and great struggle and conflict with it, but the pace is too slow for my taste, taking a while to figure out what exactly our main character is going to be doing, so for me it's going to be in my not interested to read.

You seem to enjoy this book so much you rate it very highly. I guess the author did so well for his debut write-up. I will be on the look out for his subsequent works which may not necessarily be magic or fantasy related, to get another taste of his genius. Good work!

Dark secrets, Christian tradition, Celtic myth, and Native American folklore all focused around a main character who is literally a part of a town's legends ... what more could a reader ask for in a fantasy tale like this.

Author E.R. Barr has done a great job by putting together myths, legends, and folklore in a real time setting in this story which is about Conor Archer, a teenage boy from Chicago. He comes to know about mystery of his Celtic ancestry when there is a tragedy in his family. Conor learns that if Conor can’t accept his place as a warrior of Light, then he is destined to be the harbinger of Darkness. Nice character building in this book.
life is only knowing the unknown, we can do this by reading books easily- Online book club is a great place for this. This is what I believe.

I haven't read urban fantasy before because it's not my cup of tea but I will try Roan out because the story of Conor sounds interesting. Great review!
