Re: Divergent Series (spoilers)

I read the Divergent series after finishing The Hunger Games, which I really really really loved. Divergent, to me, was kind of a let down. I had expected a lot, not just a fancy plot, but good and important character development etc. Insurdgent to me was honestly quite boring. I take Insurgent as a book to built up to the finale, making the mild situations serious and bringing everything to an extreme. However I did not find it particularly entertaining. Like yes, it was okay, but the first book was a lot better I feel! As for Allegiant, despite the quite satisfying plot developments, it also got boring after the half way mark. BUT THE ENDING wow the ending. even thought I've seen many fangirls hating on the ending, I do think it was quite important. Somehow, it made Tobias more... Tobias. After Tris' death, he seems more whole in a sense. Like despite his other half gone, he just seems to have fully deeloped maturity, which was amazing.

I didn't like the ending to this series. I agree that it was probably necessary for Tris's development but the author took so much time to set up Tris as such a strong person that it just seems so unreal that she would from something as stupid as poison.
Where is the line between insanity and creativity?
Is the reality of the world different from how we perceive and experience it in our minds? Does physical reality exist apart from the human mind?

I didn't like the third book. I didn't like what the city actually was. That's what really got me mad about the ending.

I rather enjoyed the series. The theme of self-sacrifice was evident constantly with Tris even when she decided to join Dauntless. Even the romance between Four and Tris was not overly done which can be an issue of similar books in this genre. It was just enough to make the heart warm and make it devastating at the end for Four. I will admit that I was very disappointed. I wanted a happily ever after and that did not happen. I understand why Veronica Roth chose to end it the way she did but I still could not believe what happened to Tris. I kept hoping that somehow it was all a fluke and that Tris would be there with Four happy as ever. Oh well. Life goes on.

I was a bit disappointed with the ending.. i dont think it was necessary to end a lead character like that.. but offcourse we cant aways get happy endings.

After Divergent I immediately purchased Insurgent and Allegiant, but I never got around to reading Allegiant because Insurgent was so hard to get through. There were too many underdeveloped characters and tiresome events that I became bored. I tried, but I couldn't make it to Allegiant.
