I also thought the book had a wonderful plot throughout the reading. the book really showed what we could really do with technology. i really enjoyed the way this book helped me escape from the real world. there will always be issues however the book held a type of world with technology that truly captures my attention. without a doubt after long day of being a mom, sitting down with this book allowed my mind to go into imagination mode, something I haven't been able to do in a very long time. 5 out 5 rating for me but agreed perhaps the ending could have been stretched a bit however, not all endings are slow some require a quicker ending. after all of the detail throughout the book I feel the ending had a right to be on the shorter side.

Jeff Michelson transports readers to the near future in Anticipation Day, when a character's body can be simulated in any environment. It can appear as though a day or a year has gone by in the simulation, even when in fact only about seven hours have passed. The purpose of these simulations is to inspire the populace, according to the administration. Participation is contingent on maintaining employment, attending health screenings, and staying out of problems with the law. A group of pals who take part in the simulations are followed throughout the book.

I thought the book had a really cool idea: a day where people can live any experience through a perfect simulation… super interesting but also kind of scary. The story keeps you hooked, mainly because the characters are well-developed and full of personal conflicts.

The author writes in a way that flows, not too technical. I just felt it could’ve shown more about how the whole world deals with this “Anticipation Day” — it focused a lot on the main characters. Also, the pacing slows down a bit in some parts.

But the ending… wow! I didn’t see that coming, and it really made me think afterwards. I totally recommend it for anyone who enjoys sci-fi that’s more about human dilemmas than action.

The book's plot is interesting. The government uses simulation to motivate people. Some of the people can escape their harsh reality in simulation like in the case of Alexandria. I wonder what happens when a group of friends undergo simulation.

I love science fiction novels exactly for such interesting ideas about our future, since no matter how far-fetched they are, there is a grain of truth that makes them believable. We so easily get addicted to technology; for example, I can almost see the trial try of the same concept with numerous other things starting from the internet and ending with smoking: just "maintain a job, attend health screenings, and keep out of legal trouble to be allowed to participate". Certainly will read it, and congratulations to the author on BOTD!
