Re: Harry Potter

Post by migrodsky »

Harry Potter first came out when I was still pretty young so I was able to grow up reading the books. My parents found it fascinating that I would get more excited about the midnight release for a book than for a movie or popular video game like most of my peers. When the newest addition to the series would come out I would become fully immersed in the story and not be able to put it down until it was complete. This was before the time of eReaders and I find myself going back and rereading these books and it's like reading them all over again.
I completely credit J.K. Rowling for making me into a reader, since finishing her series I have become a true book nerd!

I love the HP books. I also thought the movies were well done. My favorite of the series would have to be book 3, Prisoner of Azkaban. I have read it quite a few times and it never gets old, all of my paper back copies show signs of love. :)

You can really see J.K. Rowling's writing improve throughout the series.

I absolutely love the Harry Potter series and read each novel as it came out since I was a kid. I remember being too scared to stop reading at 3 am when I was ten years old, when I first opened the Chamber of Secrets. I remember being so enraged with Harry during Order of the Phoenix, when he couldn`t handle the pressure anymore and snapped at Ron and Hermione. I remember being so shocked and heartbroken when he realized what his destiny was- what the final horcrux was.

These stories were so well-written and full of twists and turns... Absolutely one of the most riveting, life changing series written.

I totally agree! Loved these books! Haven't found any that compare!

J.K.Rowling has said she might re-write some of her books as her publishers rushed her. They will be even more amazing then.

To the person who said they hope JK Rowling writes Dobby's story: me too!! I'd love to hear different parts of books from other points of view. I know its just wishful thinking but I'd love for there to be like a reunion book. I'd love to see how Ron and Hermione/Harry and Ginny turn out!

Oh my worrrd!! I just saw a post saying that Ms. Rowling may rewrite some of her books! I wish she'd rewrite Dumbledore being killed by Snape to something less depressing! I know that would change the whole story line but 6 books were written trying to prove he wasn't as malicious as he seemed and then he does that!!

well, that was a bit of a spoiler there, but anyway if you didn't understand that bit just keep going and you won't mind it as much I promise

I waited till my daughter was old enough to read these and then I read them so i would know what she was reading, we collected the older books at garage sales for 50 cents each until we had most of them and then we had to wait a bit, got to see the last few movies together in the theatre.

Yes, Snape Snape Severus Snape we love that.

I didn't understand the last one at all until she explained it to me, boy did I feel dumb

we have all the books and movies and have spent entire weekends having our own marathons.

altho we have a copy of The Hobbit now so this weekend will be LOTR time

Perhaps instead of a re-write a re-read would work. Snape's killing of Dumbledore was not malicious.

I have just started in on reading through the Harry Potter series because i didn't want to have to play catch up while the movies were being released. while the movies were great and thrilling i knew that they wouldn't be able to hold a candle to my own imagination and the vivid detail that is included in the books but not in the movies. I have just finished the Philosophers stone and chamber of secrets and there is so much that is not included in the movies that i can never forgive the screen writers. Like Hagrid went to Hagwarts for three years and the real number of years at school is 7 years not four like in the movie. Thats just a few because i don't want to be a spoiler but i cant wait to make it through the rest to discover new secrets i missed during the movies.

but hes not only rich but he was mad creative. I mean to be in his brain and or even in the same room as he comes up with the different characters and story lines would be so amazing

The Harry Potter movies leave out the big things the books explain and paint a visual picture for us to see in our minds. The books will never compare the movies. The books are much better and that is big for me to say because I read a lot and watch the movies and they seem the same to me but with Harry Potter it is much different.

Harry potter is my all time favorite book series / novel. I used to read the book also watching all the harry potter movie parts (except the deathly hallows part - 1, which I missed in theaters).

I used to love the religious reaction to these books. none of these detractors had ever read the books so they would just stop and stare when I said these books were mostly about love.

I am about to start this series and am looking forward to seeing what all the hype is about :D I haven't watched the movies as I really prefer to read the books first.

The Harry Potter books are a great read! They are adventurous and mysterious, perfect for children up to adults. The films are brilliant!
