This is an interesting review, Hager. I started sampling this book and I instantly got so captivated that I read it to the end. So my experience differed from yours in this respect, and I think this book reads perfectly standalone. I would give this book a perfect rating as no reason for me to deduct a star. But, like you, I felt that the first lesson of this story was about the importance of planning. I also agree that children from 8 years old would be the right audience for this book.

Your review perfectly captures the magic of this book. The life lessons about planning and cooperation should be wonderful, and the illustrations sound fantastic.Your honest take on feeling a bit overwhelmed initially adds a relatable touch to the review. The positive aspects like well-done editing and the older sister's helpful attitude seem like they stand out. Your recommendation for kids aged 8 to 12 is a helpful tip, making the four-star rating well-deserved. Thanks for sharing your experience with this beautiful tale.

I have already read and quite liked the "The Mishaps of Marvelouz Witch" series. "Marvelouz Grows a Garden" is a great sequel to the first book, and it takes readers to wild adventure, but also teaches that every goal can be archived with determination. I really hope there will be more stories about the lovely heroine. Congrats on BOTD!

I'm a gardener myself and could relate to this concept of "no plan is a plan for failure.". The book seems interesting, and I'm always looking out for children's books to read to my 6-year-old daughter. The fantasy element with moral value will make for a great read. Thanks for an insightful review.

Devesh Patel wrote: 02 Feb 2024, 10:39 "Mishaps of Marvelouz Witch Book Two" by Karen Fronterhouse, illustrated by Alicja Siemiatkowska, is a charming children's book that teaches valuable lessons through the story of Marvelouz, a young witch aspiring to emulate her sister's gardening success. Despite initial struggles and a lack of planning, Marvelouz learns from her mistakes with her sister's guidance. The book shines with its stunning illustrations and moral teachings but suffers slightly from a slow start and dependency on its predecessor. It is best suited for readers aged 8 to 12.

Marvelouz's desire to emulate her sister and create her own beautiful garden introduces themes of individuality and self-discovery. This subplot could offer a meaningful conversation starter for parents and educators to discuss the importance of embracing one's unique path.

A book for readers aged 2 to 18 but which can easily be read by older readers. The illustrations are beautiful and I enjoyed the conclusion in the book that no plan is a plan for failure.

The theming of this book is very magical and fun. I am a huge fan of the beautiful illustrations included! I enjoy the concepts depicted, gardening and magic. It is a short read, and I was glad to see the first book is also available to be downloaded through Amazon.

I thought this book was really good for young readers. I do think it could still use a bit more editing, for example, the author says the breeze "waffled through the window." This is clearly a typo; on page 16 it says "Much to soon..." another typo. The artwork was excellent, and with a little more editing I think this is a really cute and enjoyable book for young readers.

I agree with you on the age of the children to whom the book was written for. I was realizing when I was reading it that no two-year-old would understand this book. I, however, found tons of errors in just the sample that I read. I also did not like the way the chapters started and stopped. Otherwise, it was a cute story about two witch sisters.
