Good review. A young boy and 4 monks tasked with protecting the last eye of the last dragon sounds like an epic adventure. I love books with dragons so I'll definitely be reading it but like the reviewer I'm not to happy with what is basically a all male story but I'll still read it.

An appealing plot, indeed. I like reading about dragons and their mystical powers. Too bad the author didn't put any effort on the female characters. Thanks for this wonderful review!

Great review. This sounds like a terrific read for fans of epic high fantasy. With its adventure, magic and the coming of age story it sound very interesting. I do enjoy a good fantasy novel myself but with this being so male centric with the women characters being evil and unimportant as well as not being very well developed I don’t think I would enjoy slogging through 800 pages. Thanks so much for sharing.

Nice review of a good book! DragonGate by Sam Venstone is an epic fantasy thriller that is truly epic at 800 pages! I highly recommend it! Nice to read! :tiphat: :techie-studyingbrown:

This book sounds like something I will enjoy! It is unfortunate about the names, as that is one of my pet peeves, but even the little sample I read makes me think I will like the writers style. The fact that you have read (an perhaps enjoyed?) Robert Jordan is a boon to me, because it tells me a lot. (It is my all time favorite fantasy novel!) I do hope they go through an fix the typos, because that does detract from a good book for me, but if it is just a handful in 800 pages, well, maybe it will be easier to ignore.

I like reading fantasy books and this one, according to the review, reveals a deep meaning of the causes of human suffering and how to overcome them, which sounds very interesting. The only thing that "scares" me about the book is 800 pages :)

The book is captivating except for the complex character names used. I will love to read the book and learn more.

Characters are so important to the story, and their strength can make or break a book. Sounds like an interesting story, though it's a shame about the female characters

The concept of the brotherhood going on a quest reminds me of The Fellowship of the Ring by J. R. R. Tolkien.

Too many characters like that and with similar names, though, I do not think is for me.

Thanks for the good review!
