This story sounds interesting! I think the issue of whether kids should focus on their grades or pursue a career in the arts should be a balancing act. Non of their interests should be allowed to suffer as a result of the other. Parents need to support kids' talents more. Thanks for an insightful review.

Every child needs a chance to develop their talents. I like that the author's main focus is not to criticize but suggest a way to cultivate talents. Pity about the abuse though! Thanks for the review!

One thing I look out for children's book is the lesson the author passes across to the kids. I must say this book served the purpose, it covers arts, passion, education, and perseverance. Great review

I think that I would appreciate this book. I was always a creative kid. I was badly bullied (with the adults doing nothing except telling me to toughen up) and I am convinced that my bipolar disorder onset with puberty but it wasn't correctly diagnosed until close to 30 years later. Artistic talents are not nurtured in the modern school system or modern society, and people who are different are admonished to fit in or die. Thank you for your review of what sounds to be a critically important book.

Thanks for a review that gives a good and interesting glimpse into the book. A world combined of fantasy and reality is where many of us live anyway. I'm not a scifi fan, but if I were I would choose Air Fairy based on your review. Congrats on Botd

Seems like an interesting book despite the excessive metaphor and similes. Parent need to be cautioned against forcing a path in their children's life. The effect can really be disastrous. Nice review.

The topics this book touches are so important. Child abuse, bullying, the school system are all things that should be brought up way more often in literature. I will definitely add this book to my list. Great review!

It sounds like the author does an excellent job in challenging the accepted norms toward education. Great review!

A great novel of an ambitious kid aspiring to be a reknown musician. I'd like to read this book, especially after leaning that the cover is the author's own painting. Thanks for the review.
We're all philosophers. When there's a tough choice to be made, when faced with the facts of birth, love or death or simply when thinking about what we want to do with our lives.

Sounds like an interesting and different story compared to many others I have read. I feel like I am torn though. I want to read it yet and pushed away by the author's condemnation that appears prevalent in the book and overuse of metaphors/similes.

I liked the idea of this book, and the cover looked promising, but I don't think I could get behind the writing. It would annoy me too much. Thanks for the review!

The thing I like is that the main focus of the author is not to criticise but to suggest a way to cultivate talents. The author lays stress on devoting more time to develop talents instead of cramming for exams. She considers it important to read the biographies of great artists to seek inspiration. And the most important thing is to practice a lot as there is no excellence without practice
.

A thought-provoking story that sounds perfect for educators and parents. I am glad you enjoyed it and also agree with you on the excessive use of metaphors and similes. I don't think it's for me, though, as it is not my genre. Thank you for the detailed review!

I like the little mix of fantasy in the harsh reality of Oris's world. Any kid who endures that sort of abuse needs an Art Fairy. Great review.

As a retired teacher, I totally agree with Floras Athena's contention that our current system of education emphasizes test scores over talent. The winners in this game are those students who are most "talented" at memorizing information and taking tests. I was fortunate enough to teach a junior high journalism class that wrote and produced a monthly school newspaper (long before computers provided daily updates). I discovered that every student contributed their talent: Some were good writers; some had good ideas but needed someone else to follow through; some were good administrators, keeping track of story assignments and deadlines; some were good typists; some were good copy editors and proofreaders; some were good photographers who gave willingly of their free time to "get the picture;" and some brought enthusiasm, commitment, and joy to the classroom. How does one grade these talents? Judging from previous comments, some readers were turned off by overuse of symbolism and poor translation. That's unfortunate because, based on the review, Athena has something important to say.
