I enjoyed the first book the most. However the arena of the second drew me in the most

i loved the whole series, what really bothers me is how many fakes and duplicates have come since them. It is almost comedic how authors can present us with a "new" idea, that is really the same book, with new character names, and the same plot and sell it as their idea.

I can't help but compare the whole Hunger Games trilogy to The Giver. I liked both and I'm looking forward to reading the Divergent series next. I tend to lean toward the classics, but I have enjoyed these "new" books, too. I read that The Giver is coming out in a movie this year starring Jeff Bridges. I'll be going to the theater for that one!

The second book was definitely my favorite. I was really enthralled by the dome in that one. :]

I thoroughly enjoyed all three books - read them one after another. I do have to say I liked the first the best. I thought the third book got a bit long - however I can see it being turned into a very good movie. I also definitely liked the books better than the movies. Although I know of people that are now reading the books because they saw the movies - and are liking the movies better.

Oh Boy! I'm in the middle of the third book and I'm not liking what everyone is saying about it. It does seem to drag in the third book - I thought it was just me. I LOVED the first and second books. I've heard that Suzanne Collins doesn't always end a series well. I'm going to keep reading until I finish it, but now I'm not as excited.

Actually, the Hunger Games is pretty much a retelling of Battle Royale with a bit of world building, so in terms of originality, SC wasn't the originator of this plot line. Dystopian fiction has a long history, and I've always been a big fan.

Like most people, the first book was my favorite. I powered through it in one sitting, then did the same with the second when it came out. I was really disappointed in the third book's ending, however. It was so rushed and a bit trite. I felt as if she had simply gotten tired of writing the book and decided to end it, with just a quick summary of what she had planned to write to tie things together. I had so many questions, and not in the good, keep me thinking kind of way, but in the sense that I genuinely wasn't sure what had just happened. I expected more, and I was left hanging. It will be interesting to see what the response is to the third film, and if there are any changes made to the ending to appease the audiences.

No no stay as excited ;) The third book is awesome but not as much as the second. Oh and for the record ... someone will die ... well someone you might have gotten attached to from the first two books. And no that was not a spoiler :)

The second book would have been my favorite if the last scene had been excluded. I think it would have been more suspenseful to end it right after the lightning strike. The last part seemed like a less suspenseful build up to the third book.

I love the first book, The Hunger Games was my first dystopian books. After all the hype and my own excitement I thought the books would get better, but in my opinion they didn't.

I think the books were good, but I think the movies were so much better.

I really only read the first two books because I promised a friend I would, but I couldn't even get through the second one without gritting my teeth and offering myself a bribe. I'm sorry to anyone who enjoyed it! I know that it might have been a bit about my personality - I like to read/watch things that are light and funny, which this absolutely was not, and I really have come to hate love triangles. Interestingly enough, I found myself loving the characters for the most part, though.

"i loved the whole series, what really bothers me is how many fakes and duplicates have come since them"

This comment struck me because it is sort of the opposite that i felt.

A friend lent me the first Hunger Games book. I found it very derivative, very similar to several books/stories I had already read including "The Lottery", "The 10th Victim", "The Long Walk", "Running Man", (for that matter Rollerball'), etc.

For a book that was entirely new to me, it seemed familiar throughout.
