Under the Never Sky by Veronica Rossi is a great book about a singer who lives in a desecrated world.

Lucifer's Hammer by Larry Niven is a great story about a comet hitting the earth and the struggles the remaining people have to live through in order to survive. I must warn you it is a very long book but it is intense reading. I couldn't put it down and read it in a matter of days.

One of my favorite post apocalyptic book is the Life as we knew it by Susan Beth Pfeffer.
It is a story of a young girl and her family's fate after a meteor knocks the moon closer to earth, which unleashes natural disasters like tsunamis, earthquakes among other things. I read this book a few years ago and to this day I catch myself on thinking of it. I'll probably start re-reading them again. My favorite is the second book though. It very emotional. It is the first book of the trilogy so it might give you a few days of reading. :)
Also I like the In the after by Demitria Lunetta.

I just finished reviewing a book titled Hopebreaker by Dean F. Wilson that has a post-apocalyptic / dystopian feel to it and it's one of my favorite books I've read in December.

I just finished 77 Days in September by Ray Gorham. It cost me some sleep since I hated to put it down at night. It involves terrorists launching a nuke from a merchant ship offshore of the U.S. that explodes in space and results in an EMP (electromagnetic pulse) that wipes out all things electric and electronic. The main character, Kyle Tait, is in Texas and needs to get home to Montana. The book chronicles his trip and the good and bad people he runs into along the way. Really good post-apocalyptic book about a too real possibility.

The Silo Series is one of my favs by Hugh Howey- Wool, Shift, and Dust
Planet Urth by Jennifer Martucci which is book 1, I haven't read the other books yet but this one that I did read was very good and I can only imagine the same with the others.
Children of the After Awakening Book 1 by Jeremy Laszlo is another great read.

Just like to make a little correction here. The Walking Dead novels by Jay Bonansinga and Robert Kirkman are based off the comic book universe and not the tv show (the comic book and tv show are considered alternate universes).

It's very significant as the main characters in the books are completely different from the tv show versions of themselves.

Read the Book of Revelation. It tells the true coming tribulation and mankind's response to the disasters. It also gives the answers to such a condition.

Lea-Killian wrote:I'm not entirely sure why, but no one has ever heard of the Chaos Walking series by Patrick Ness. I work at a bookstore and I suggest it all the time, but no one seems interested. It is really quite unfortunate since it is perhaps one of the best series I've ever read. Although, I wouldn't really consider it "post-apocalyptic." This is more like an entirely new world. Our world was passed saving, so the survivors boarded a ship to a new world. When they got there though, there was a species of creatures called the Spackle. They weren't keen to the idea of sharing their world. They set off an airborne virus that made all thoughts project outward. No matter where they went, the people couldn't get away from the noise of everyone else's thoughts. For whatever reason, this virus killed all of the women. To get more specific, the main character, Todd, is the last child in his town. Without understanding why, his parents (Ben and Cillian, friends of his real parents that died) tell him he has to leave his town and never come back. Finally persuaded to trust them, he leaves and uncovers secrets and people he isn't sure he really wants to know. It is a series of three books. The Knife of Never Letting Go, the Ask and the Answer, and Monsters of Men. One of the best series I've ever read. Highly recommended.

I really do not understand why this book isn't much much much more popular... for me is different, but certainly as good as the Hunger Games and I've read a whole lot of dystopia/post apocaliptic.
Avid reader... pls give at least the first book a chance!!
Bloopers in my spelling or grammar?? A PM will be greatly appreciated... I do (almost) anything to improve my English!

The Road by Cormac McCarthy is a good post-apocalyptic read. The book centers around the relationship between a father and son as they attempt to survive with only a pistol to defend themselves. The book is dark and depressing, but worth reading.
