I like reading Historical fictions. But the ones I read are set in the Regency and Victorian Era. With your review, I think I might start reading outside of those 2 eras.

Historical fiction isn't my cup of tea, but I'm interested in reading about the lessons this book has to offer. Great review.

Historical fiction is my cup of tea. I live in South East Asia so I know a lot about colonization and persecution. And the natives being considered 3rd class people. Nice book. Congrats #BOTD! :tiphat:

I actually am not a fan for historical fictions, but I might give it a try for the mystery and suspense. Good review.

I like that you say that this book has a historical fiction and educational feel to it. The fact that it is about a young woman wanting more out of life is also very relatable and a good subject for a Young Adult book. Great review!

The sample of this book I obtained left me in a thoughtful mood. I also live in a culture where the native population of the country resent and hate the offspring of the colonists that moved there hundreds of years ago. The thing is, we inherit tomorrow what we agree to today, and the society described by the main character in The Governor's Daugher, is the direct result of the decisions made by the inhabitants of that country, as are the circumstances of mine. I found the book slow and the writing with too much prose for my western taste. As I did not obtain the whole book I can not really comment on the story line. Thanks to ALynnPowers for her review.

This book clearly shows a woman can do much more than being stereotype to only do house chores. Am in the second chapter and am also lost in book. Thank you author for an amazing book.
