I like your review and I do agree that the plot seems like something that has been done before. I am happy to know that the author's writing style has allowed this predictable plot to become unpredictable which is a hard thing to do for any writer. I support the author's decision to add same sex couples in his book because they are a part of society just as heterosexual couples are. I think that some people may not like it, but adding different perspectives allows the story be more realistic.

You had me at the words "cast of characters", as your favorite part. I love almost any genre so long as the characters are interesting, unique and well-developed. Thanks for the review.

This is a fascinating and thorough review! Thank you also for mentioning that the book is not sexually explicit, as I do not care for those types.

The cover of the is so calming, and makes the book sounds like an easy read, and yet interesting read. Because of this, I would have chosen to read the book. However, after reading the review, my original guess changed, as I found the book to be a bit complex. It is complex in that Herai, the main character, has two lives. She is living in two lives at the same time. She has reached adulthood in both her lifetimes. I found hard to comprehend... and this is what I most disliked about the book. How can someone navigate both lifetimes at the same time? But I am sure there would be people who might find this real interesting and can understand and probably relate to it. Thanks for the review.

Seems like an interesting story. I wonder how the presence of "one of the old ones" affect "the better place" and how it affects Herai's life. I don't mind the slow start as long as it picks up speed from there. I added it to my to-read list! Thank you for your review.

Jaime Lync wrote: 24 Jun 2017, 17:37 In conclusion, I rate Herai 4 out of 4 stars. There are virtually no grammatical flaws in Key’s work and the only editorial error that is worth mentioning is that my copy had the table of contents at the end of the book. The only thing that might annoy readers is that this book is not one that you are attached to from the first chapter. However, I guarantee that Herai is worth reading.
I enjoyed reading your review. I feel like I have a good sense of the book. Having read the sample, I agree that the book didn't grab me in the first chapter, but I did develop much more interest after that. I like the premise and the fact that the author has taken care to develop rich and deep characters. I will keep reading!

Thanks for your review. I keep getting confused on the whole two different realities, but I am intrigued on how he tackles two different plots. I am really glad you mention the homosexual relationship, I do not have an issue with it but I respect everyone's opinion. I just think it saves a lot of trouble when some people know the contexts, it make it harder for the people who do have issues with such to complaint when it it was mentioned.

Thanks again for your review.

Sad to note that those who are into stories that begin at a high note and are fascinating to the end will not be enjoying this. However, it is good to learn that the story becomes intriguing as it goes on. Thanks for the nice review. I have added to my 'want to read' shelf.

Herai by Aaron D. Key is a thought-provoking fantasy novel which unfolds the mystery of the two alternative realities in Herai's life. It's a tale of crime, romance, betrayal, war, family ties and a yearning for freedom with realistic characters and a myriad of plot twists and mysteries.

I would have wanted the table of contents be placed in the front pages.

A book with virtually no grammatical flaw is a plus.

Thanks for the great review, though I still couldn't figure out how the story goes.
