Demon Heart by David Crane is a fantasy adventure about a Japanese girl named Naoko Kitemura who was born in Osaka, Japan. Naoko lived with her parents and two brothers. Her best friend's name was Fumiko Nohichi. Naoko had to overcome many challenges in her life.
At the age of six Naoko' s mother disclosed to her who and what she was. Then at the age of sixteen (16) Naoko suffered the lost of a loved one. Naoko, however, chose a career in law enforcement. Unfortunately, at the age of twenty-one (21), Naoko endured yet another loss of a loved one. Naoko promised to avenge her mother and to protect Japan and her (Japan) innocent people. Unaware of the number of challenges that she would have to face, Naoko risked her life to protect her family, friends and Japan from any and all harm.
I abosulty enjoyed reading Demon Heart by David Crane. It was refreshing and exciting, as well as entertaining all in one. I loved that though is was a fantasy adventure it contained alot of facts about Japan's history and its culture. Reading Demon Heart educates one about the principles that Japanese value most which are duty, respect, love, loyalty and sacrifice.
The plot was well developed and the characters and surroundings were easy to picture and bring to life. I love that there was alot of action throughout the book. There was love, happiness, sorrow, excitement, even fear all wrapped with entertainment compacted into this novel.
Deamon Heart by David Crane projected the differences between good and bad, it also suggested that some of the decisions that human beings make and some of the things that they do can be influenced by demonic spirits, which posesses the human body. However, these choices can be either good or bad.
There was also alot of emphasis about their gods and their worship practices.
I personally found the book to be a bit graphic for young readers being that the characters, especially the demonic characters, were so vividly descriptive. I would however recommend Demon Heart by David Crane to young adults, adults and to anyone fifteen years and over who is interested in reading an awesomely well developed book with a plot based on Japan, its history and culture.
To be honest I did came across a few errors while reading Demon Heart, but I rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars. Demon Heart by David Crane is just so captivating and enjoyable.
