Demon Heart by David Crane is a story about a girl who has a sole responsibility to keep Japan safe from its enemies. It is told in first person point of view and has 295 standard pages. Its theme is about love for the country and selflessness. Love for the country and selflessness because the protagonist in the story always prioritizes the safety of her loved ones and her country than that of herself.
The story started with an introduction by the main character which is Naoko Kitamura who lives in Osaka, Japan. She is the youngest from their family and the only daughter of Mr. and Ms. Kitamura from their three children. Her mother is a demon hybrid which she inherits. Her father and brothers didn’t know about their demonic or supernatural powers that they possess coz only female member in their family can inherit and knows about their demonic power which runs in their blood. Her mother always reminds her that she should use her supernatural power in good things, not for evil. Naoko Kitamura still lives a normal life knowing that she is different from other ordinary people. Her demonic power was awakened when she was in danger caused by another demon hybrid which uses ordinary humans to do evil things. To use her demonic power in good things, she decided to be a cop to save people from any danger caused by evil people.
What I like most about the story is the character of the protagonist, Naoko Kitamura. I like her because she always prioritizes the safety of her loved ones and the people of her country than herself. Other than that, I also admire her being fearless and strong in dealing with different kinds of situation. What I dislike about the story is the brutality of her enemies.
While reading the book, I found some minimal error like the use of punctuation marks. The author should consider a professional English editor to edit his work. Although the book has errors, the whole story is satisfying because I was entertained with the storyline; however, I was alarmed with sexual assaults, nudity, and brutality caused by evil people.
I rate Demon Heart a rating of 4 out of 4 stars. I have a perfect rating because errors in punctuation marks did not affect the whole story. I recommend this book to individuals who are fond of reading novels which have full of actions that involve extraordinary powers, and to everyone who is interested in reading different kinds of genre. To those readers who are sensitive to human violations, be aware that brutality caused by the antagonist is explicitly stated which can be alarming.
