We are Voulhire: Fires of Virko is the second installment to Matthew Tysz' series: We are Voulhire. It shows us how the lives of characters we saw in the first installment continue and what changes have occurred. Here we also have a look at Virko: the industrial iron capital of Voulhire.

Lord Eldus had a well established story in the first book and one would think it will be the same but he starts facing challenges when it comes to Hillport. A deal with him and Magnum Caelum is called off because of the attack that occurred.

Galen, Rowan and Demetrius maintain their friendship. They travel to Virko since Galen is a noble man that is very enthusiastic about helping his small town. Little do they know that there is a darkness hovering at the core of Virko and patiently waiting to spread the menace. When they arrive, they meet Lord Venden who asks them to rid the castle of evilness and save his son Hans also known as Folcro.

King Wilhelm doesn't know that General Meldorath has already penetrated Yamon Soul which is the religious capital of Voulhire.

In this book, characters face more intense challenges. Galen is faced with a new quest and he will have serious decisions to make. Characters like Morgan who didn't seem to have an importance in the first book bring a different impact and we understand more about their purpose. The city's political problems that involves people wanting power and doing all the wrong things to get it puts characters like Lord Eldus and King Wilhelm in a position that will show us if their leadership is really good or not.

One thing about Matthew tysz as an author is how the plot of his stories always takes a drastic turn that one does not expect but ends up liking it because you don't see it coming. How he uses his characters is very inspiring because one gets too see them grow slowly and as a reader you get surprised.

I rate the book 4 out of 4 stars because yet again Matthew Tysz has done it by giving us a great continuation to his stories and one is just left with the question: what next? If you are a sci-fi fan, please get into it and read this book. You will definitely love it.
