Roan is a suspense-filled tale penned by E. R. Barr. He captivatingly intertwines Celtic mythology and legends from the ancient times to come up with this magical fantasy novel.
This tale revolves around a likable teenage boy Conor Archer. Conor wakes up on the ground with a crowd of people around him. What happened? Let’s find out. Conor was part of a Celtic band in Chicago. On a fateful day, he is pulled outside an Irish pub by a biker having bought him a drink. The biker bites him and welcomes him into the family he is unaware of. He then quickly disappears into the Chicago River. Moreover, Conor arrives just in the nick of time to his dying mother who whisperingly instructs him to head to Tinkers Grove if at all there is any hope of salvation for him.
Tinkers Grove, Wisconsin is Conor Archer’s hometown full of secrets and wild powers. A genetics company arrives in the town intending to undertake experiments with the Roan. They are ‘human’ children considered family regardless of them having come from puppies on touching the sand. This soon turns out to be a battle between myths and science. Conor Archer is now considered a savior by the humanity of Tinkers Grove, Wisconsin. With the help of the Roan will he save them from the incoming evil?
I enjoyed many aspects while reading Roan. E. R. Barr poetically applies stylistic and lyrical refrains to deliver this thrilling tale. This excellent delivery makes the tale fascinating and very enjoyable. The mythical fantasy that encompasses this action-packed novel of Conor archer running in the night and flying in the trees at night like a wolf and owl respectively is awesome. E.R. Barr also reaffirms the importance of love and friendship showcased by his aged aunt Emily and his newfound friends Jace and Beth. This not only instills wisdom but it is also educative.
Roan is expertly edited as I did not come across any typing nor grammatical errors while enjoying this intriguing tale. I rate Roan a total of four out of four stars. With around 600 pages the novel seems quite long but as you read it unexpectedly turns out to be a brief read. This is because of the suspense-filled and action-packed chapters that make it unputdownable, and this is the reason for rating it out of the total four stars. I could not rate Roan any lower because of the excellent character development and editing work undertaken to ensure you enjoy reading Roan to the fullest.
I highly recommend Roan to avid readers of action-packed fantasy novel more especially with Irish knowledge because you will certainly enjoy this. Roan is an intriguing read.
