This was a well-written book! It had my attention the whole time and made me want to live in the world this book takes place in! I like the way the author tells you the story of Conor and how it transitions to his life that his mom had for him when he was a little kid, that they ran away from. I love all the supernatural events that take place. I didn't expect their to be supernatural events with just looking at the book cover itself, I love how I was surprised and swept away by the turn of events. Conor encounters a strange man who bites him, and tells him his adventure is just beginning. While the bite is clearly magical, Conor seems is at first put off by the strange almost-man who tells him of his special status. This is just the beginning of his strange journey and his path back to Tinker's Grove. When the adventure finally starts, though, there are dark secrets and old alliances in Tinker’s Grove, including a water demon and a shady biotech startup. This may be a case where less is more, because the constant warnings of danger faded to a background noise. Still, the genetic goals of Dr. Drake at Diogene were believably selfish and scientifically believable too, with disastrous results for the dark ones of Tinker’s Grove.

Overall, I think this book deserves a 4 out of 4
